Good Things about Obama

That won’t work. What they think are the good things are what we think are the bad things.

They should write one bad thing they think about him, and then we won’t feel so down about it.

PBA – Come on.

1. President Obama is a great husband and father, a good role model for America in a time when family values are being compromised. He has never openly supported non-family values.

2. President Obama has continued providing military aid to and having military exercises with Israel. In particular, he strongly affirmed his support of Israel during the debates.

3. President Obama is very charismatic. People like him. Although he does seem to have a bit of a natural antipathy towards Israel, he has put himself above suspicion by having Jews, and not just any Jews but Orthodox Jews, working for him. He can’t be too much of an anti-semite in person.

4. Sometimes a president who doesn’t seem to openly love Israel, can do a lot more behind the scenes without being criticized by the media.

Obama is the best President ever for kollel families and for those working off the books (not that I know any).

Also, I don’t think we’ve had one race riot since he’s been in office.

He is also terrific for those Jews who are in the United States illegally and need benefits not otherwise available to working Americans.

I wont rebut your whole list now, but Obama doesnt have a good marriage and never did. He almost got divorced a few years back. Want to hear something more shocking? Theres very good reason to believe he is a mishkav zachor. Dont believe me, let google do the talking. We have a lie for a president. NOTHING about that man is as it seems. I dont dislike Obama because his color, I am not racist. I dislike him as a human being because I believe he is not a very good one. He is a cold arrogant disconnected person who lives for himself. These statements aren’t actually based on “research.” This is called hyperbole. You’re entitled to believe whatever you want, but you make it sound like fact.

Are you intimating that he is involved in extramarital affairs, or are you just saying that he could be. If the first, you have nothing backing that statement; if the second, so could anyone.

I’m not a fan of Obama’s but I do think that a lot of the posters here subscribe to the attitudes that they hear in their communities without actually checking things. People absorb from their surroundings. If at home you hear Obama criticism, you will feel negatively toward him with or without evidence.

WIY, I researched your claims on Google and the rumor about Obama almost getting divorced is 100% FALSE! It’s motzei shem ra, pure and simple. People speculated that Donald Trump was going to release divorce papers for the Obamas but all he did was offer $5 million to charity if Obama released his college transcripts and passport applications. The part about almost getting divorced was a RUMOR! And there is no proof either way if Obama’s parents were married or not. Why are you so quick to assume the worst about him? I prefer to believe that his parents were married.

Point: You find on google what you want to find.

For the record, I am not convinced that Obama is a good president, but nor is he evil incarnate. I did not vote for him. That doesn’t mean I voted for Romney, either. This thread was about the positive, which I am always happy to highlight, on any topic.

2. It doesn’t matter what he does but what he says. The real power of a president is that he has a bully pulpit.

3. If you’re determined to see every move he makes as anti-Jewish, including hiring Orthodox Jews, who am I to argue?

4. He has been criticized by the media and sure he can do damage. So could Bush. This is a pointless argument.

There are many positive attributes that President Obama has.

1. He came from an somewhat unstable background, having been raised by his grandmother after his parents split and basically abandoned him, and he overcame that to become president of the United States.

2. Unlike the overwhelming majority of people who enter top law schools with high-minded ideals and then forget their ideals and work for corporate law firms for lots of money, Obama returned to community work when he graduated.

3. He embodies personal ideals, such as integrity and family stability.

4. He is articulate and well presented, both important attributes for a leader.

5. Jews who look back at the times when we were denied entry into various countries because of immigration quotas should look well at a president who understands that the majority of immigrants are honest hardworking people who are only seeking a better life for their families, and does not intend to round these people up and ship them off. Jews who remember those times and also want cheap cleaning help should appreciate it even more.

Once you get past the racism and hyperbole and understand that both Romney and Obama are inherently decent, incredibly accomplished people who simply have different visions for the ideal America, it is possible to see the recent race as a choice between a candidate who can be America’s CEO, efficiently running the country to get the best possible return during his time as president, and one who is a properly dignified leader, a strong figure who stands for many of our important values, can represent us in a positive light to the world, and can more generally guide the country on the basis of core ethics and ideals.

Good things about Obama?

I can think of only one- America, B”H, has not been attacked by terrorists.

Other than that, I can’t think of much. A below-mediocre student with a sketchy ethnic and national background is vetted by convicted Marxist-Leninist terrorists, and has ties with anti-semites, Islamists, and other radicals, becomes president, uses charisma to get ahead (reminds me of Y”S), and socializes the country, while condemning Israel all along. Gevaldig.

I like it that after his presidency he would make a perfect case study for pathological liar researchers.

LOL RebDoniel – Below mediocre student? He graduated two of the most prestigious universities in the world, from law school Magna Cum Laude (which means roughly in the the top 10% of his class.)He made the Harvard Law review, and became the first black person to become the president of Harvard Law Review. Even if he got a “race bump”, he was still better than anyone else before him who would have been entitled to that bump. He did such a good job editing one judge’s article that the judge offered him an appeals court clerkship – one of the most prestigious jobs that one can get upon graduation. But he turned it down to go into public service.

(Note: I assume that you were happy with President Bush II, who couldn’t get into the University of Texas when his father was a Texas Congressman, and basically admitted to getting mostly Cs at Yale.)

He is loyal to his family and generous to his friends.

Veltz Meshugener: One can be an intellectual but that doesn’t make him intelligent. Obama is an intellectual fool if we judge him by his thoughts.

The good thing about Obama is that he’s a politician. If Romney would have won we would have forgotten that “lev melachim beyad Hashem” and we would have felt calmer because we would have trusted in him instead. Hashem just threw us a hurricane, perhaps to show us that it is not a politician that is in charge, but Him. Obama will only be as good as Hashem allows him to be.

We survived Carter. We survived Clinton.

We’ll survive Obama.
