What does it mean to be “shpitz” for a guy? What does the term “shpitz yeshivish” mean?

tip,or top of ,like shpitz yeshivish = very yeshivish. Hard to explain but means top of the line.
it means cool. usually that he spends all day in the bais but dresses to the nines.

Shpitz means to the utmost extent an embodiment of the thing totally it.
I always suspected it comes from the Hebrew word “Shpeetz” – meaning the sharp corner point of a needle or blade. The apex, if you will.
@Curiosity – that isn’t a Hebrew word, it’s a German/Yiddish word.
Are you sure you don’t mean spetz? Its to know a lot of something ussually perfectly….

shpitz is a yiidish word. it means the point, as in the point of a nail. shpitzy means pointy; in yiddish its shpitzig. it is used in the vernacular to mean the pinnacle of something. so shpitz yeshivish means the pinnacle of yeshivish. but its not reall the teich. i heard a RY make a machaah on “shpitzig’ shich”, the ones commonly worn by yeshiva bochurim.
I guess that’s why I couldn’t find it in the Hebrew-English dictionary I was using.. It’s made its way into modern Hebrew so seamlessly that I honestly thought it had Hebrew roots. It’s surely listed in newer Hebrew dictionaries.
Shpitz = typical
Shpitz in German means a high point like the top of a mountain. I know this because it is my family name.
OK…so can someone tell me why a SHPITZEL is called a SHPITZEL As in the ultra orthodox holier than thou head covering?
Again, probably because it’s on top (high point) of the head.
maybe cuz its pointy like a football.
A shpitzel covers the whole head- with not Sheitel underneath.
A hat is supposed to cover a big part of the sheitel- so only the front and back should be seen. The style now- where the hat barely lies on top of the head, defeats the purpose of wearing one.
In Chevron Yeshiva, they call the top notch learners, “shpitz”. This usually amounts to like 3-5 guys out of 1200 students.
