So I’m at work and i answer the phone hello _____________, and the person on the other end answers yes what time is mincha, i tell him i said hello he again says yes what time is mincha, i explain to him that its proper to say hello when someone greets you, he says i said hello i told him no you said yes and then asked your question, twice, he is dumbfounded and silent i give him his information and knowing he wont have the proper manners to say thank you i say you are welcome and hang up.

This is funny and sad at the same time. Not everybody has basic manners.
He probably thought you were a jerk. I’m sure you had good intentions, but the way you spoke to him was quite pretentious.
I’m not saying you were a jerk, you happen to be right. I’m just sayig that is probably what he thought! It sounds like he was in a rush.
Perhaps he was an avel who cannot say hello?

Some people are so preoccupied. They just don’t get it. Manners seem to take a back burner (if even that).
Goq, you were right, but you were also wrong. Sometimes being right doesn’t MAKE you right. IMO, you kind of made a mountain out of a molehill, and I happen to agree that “yes” is not a proper phone response(though it works for when an aveil answers the phone or it is Tisha B’av).
The person you spoke to, no doubt rightly thought you to be a little uptight, and it was probably a little inappropriate to be giving mussar to someone about something rather subjective after all, and even more so that you were at work. Supposing this person took great offense and spoke to your boss about it (or are you the boss?) It really was a very small issue to make such a big deal. I do understand how you feelm, though, but I would have handled it differently. I have learned in life to pick and choose my battles.

Hey i actually found this quite funny cuz i know people who do this all the time (i.e. me) my mom was just talking with me yesterday about sms vs whatsapp, why does whatsapp win handsdown, and i was telling her about voice notes, she said it’s just that whatsapp makes it ok to be rude, cuz u don’t gotta say hello and how are u. So i think nowadays people are always bz and in a rush and manners went down the drain
rite yoo ar. peepel today ar bz in a rush and dont hav time to spell or rite correctly. thats how teen language was invented
