If someone chose not to attend the Siyim for whatever reason, is that a reason for their workmates to badger them afterwords about it, and embarras them publicly? I think not! Lets keep our personal lives out of the work place, can we?
August 7, 2012 7:33 pm at 7:33 pm #889966emanParticipantA Kollel Yungerman told me he specifically stayed home so he could learn. He said most B’nai Torah in the US were at the siyum(A great Kidush Hashem, but not shteiging) , the B’nai Torah in the E’Y were sleeping and someone had to keep the world going.

Of course it’s not a reason. Embarrassing someone publicly is forbidden.

First of all there’s a concept of ????? ??? ?????. It was such a powerful program, it’s effects still materializing and blossoming. Secondly, who says one was not able to learn at the siyum? The speeches were also learning.

Are you for real posting about your workmates badgering you?

You are correct. Some people just dont know how to behave. I know other people who didn’t attend and they were all harassed by friends and family. You dont know whats doing by yenem and you have no idea why they didnt go and even if they didnt want to go they have that right. Its very mean to make people feel stupid and put them on the defensive for such a thing.
August 7, 2012 9:36 pm at 9:36 pm #889972a maminParticipantNo, it wasnt me. It was a friend, and yes he was badgered that he was disgusting! I would never have stood for that comment in my office, and no one wouldve said it.

August 8, 2012 3:04 am at 3:04 am #889974147ParticipantSome people didn’t go, because they are still allergic to English & addicted to Yiddish.
Then some people didn’t go, because they are Availim or had Yohrzeit that day or/& evening, and knew they would not get the Omud for Mincha nor Ma’ariv.
Then some people have young children, and a babysitter until so late into the nite is very expensive, and hard to find.
August 8, 2012 3:42 am at 3:42 am #889975choppyParticipantThe Yiddish crowd was there in full force, constituting a majority of the audience. 4 out of the 8 rabbonim who spoke, spoke in Yiddish.
