So I go to a mikva today to tovel my new backpacking pots. ($8 dollars from Dick’s Sporting goods; aluminum pots; weigh a couple ounces).
There is a sign in the mikva: “Usage of this mikva is not free. Please deposit money in the box”.
And I’m thinking, what do you mean it isn’t free? Of course it is free! Look, you walk in, you dip your stuff, you leave your garbage on the floor, you leave your stickers on the mikva lid, and you walk out. And make yummy cupcakes in your new pans. What is not free about that?
So tell me: What makes them think that my gezeilah is worse than their sheker?

PBA: Those are mutually exclusive events. If you committed G’zeilah, then they weren’t lying. And if they were lying, then you didn’t steal.
Not free as in it costs the owners for you to use it. It doesn’t cost you anything!

Popa you must tip before you dip and don’t give any lip for if your tongue does slip and someones feelings you do snip because of on your shoulder there is a chip then said person will put his fist in a grip and through a straw your meals will you have to sip.

Popa: Of course when you said “Then it’s free” in response to Sam2 that implies that you paid. If you paid for a free mikva, that makes you a freier.

not keeping with the purim spirit, why don’t the users throw out all the garbage they take off the dishes, utensils etc. usually they even provide a garbage can near the keilim mikva for usage.
i think people are hesitant to throw the garbage away because if they decide to return the stuff they want to be able to come back and find all the wrappings.

The shittos regarding tevilah of aluminum range from patur, chayav mid’rabbonon, to chayav mid’Oraisa.

The opinion is based on the position that only the six metals mentioned in the Torah require tevilah and glass is the only thing they decreed upon to tovel without a bracha.
The six metals are gold, silver, copper, iron, tin, and lead.
Stainless steel, by the way, is included, since steel is made with iron.

I have only actually heard that idea in relation to aluminum FOIL pans. But bottom line, if ever you have a safeik bracha on keilim that are being toveled, bring along something that absolutely MUST be toveled, and make the brocha over those items, with the idea in mind that IF the other items actually required tevilah, then the brocha also covers them.

Well, I have heard it in relation to all kinds of aluminum. It’s in Ohr Yitzchak II YD 17, and the Gra is cited there as well.
Many places have free mikvos for keilim, sometimes with big signs on the halcha and the brachos, and a trash can for the stickers and packaging. Stores sometimes have a mikva for keilim.
My rav’s psak on aluminum pans: buy it; take it home; bend it backwards such that it’s not usable; bend it back again. Now, since you fixed it from an unusable state, it’s as if you made it, and since you’re a Jew, it doesn’t require toveling. And the whole thing takes less than a minute 🙂
DY or Sam2, could you weigh in here ? Is that called broken ? Was it ever really in a ‘defferent state’ ? I’m not liking that svara.
I don’t like the sevara either. If it’s something anyone can easily fix, it was never broken.
There are legitimate heterim not to tovel aluminum disposables, though.
Here’s my psak–buy aluminum, and make it into a pan. That’s definitely ok.
Has the rov heard of shape memory? Maybe part of the memory is that the aluminum remembers a goy made it?
