    Just a reminder – tomorrow night is Rosh Chodesh Av.

    (feel free to use this as a reminder for other nine-days prohibited activities, too.)

    Not just do your laundry before the nine days,

    but pre-wear any freshly laundered shirts,

    pants, and suits before Shkiya (sunset) tomorrow thursday.

    Any undergarments e.g. underwear, undershirts, socks,

    Do NOT need to be tried on, and can be worn freshly laundered L’katchiloh!

    Tzitsis are a Shayloh so it is better to wear them

    for like 5 or 10 minutes on thursday if they’re freshly landered,

    or ask your rov who is a posek.

    The nine days are not something we have to look to get around,

    rather something we have to go through.

    Everyone who mourns (the destruction of) Yerushalayim

    will merit to see it it rebuilt in all its splendor.

    What an awesome sight that will be.

    My older kids get the little ones to pre-wear all their clothes. One of my kids put on 8 shirts at the same time and got stuck in them.

    bein Hasedorim – Thanks for the words of wisdom. I always have a pit in my stomach when the nine days comes and get extra chizuk when I see little acts of Hashgocha Pratis (above and beyond the norm) during this time.

    Shabbos clothing is kosher.

    you could also prewear all clothing on shabbos.

    The Ohr Somayach page I linked to on the “towels” thread discusses wearing fresh clothing on Shabbos for later in the week. It says that if the clothing is Shabbos-appropriate, it’s OK, otherwise it has the hachona problem that “YW Moderator-42” asks about.

    Now we can discuss whether blue/striped/colored shirts are appropriate on Shabbos. That would be an interesting topic; I wonder if it’s ever been discussed here before?
