My keyboard is melting. My mouse is sticking. My hair is hopelessly knotted. My face is dripping onto the table. Even my teeth are limp. I’M TOO DARNED HOT!!!!! Here are a few things I do to keep cool:
-go to a minyan because the A/C is good at the bais medrash.
-spend my retirement fund on electric bills to run A/C 24/7.
-hang out in the frozen food section of the supermarket. Care to meet by the Bodek veggies?
-Crunch more ice cubes. MORE ICE!!! Hey- get your own ice!!!
-take cold-water showers.
-kvetch, complain, sigh loudly while mopping the sweat dripping from my face.
-sit 1″ away from a fan.
-spend all day in bed because that’s the room the “good Air Conditioner” is in.
-ride the subway for the A/C. Really. No kidding.
-plan vacations to Iceland, Alaska, Greenland, and Antarctica.
-watch Dr. Zhivago
And the #1 answer is:
POST A “COOL” TOPIC IN THE YWN COFFEE ROOM!!!
==>(will this get me a cute subtitle?)
July 18, 2012 8:29 am at 8:29 am #886242Here it’s windy, rainy and just cold enought that without a coat you feel the cold. That’s 16C (60F) now, rising to 20C (68F) later today. Meaning it’s a pretty hot day, warmer than average for July-August around here. (This is not a joke.)

July 19, 2012 8:58 pm at 8:58 pm #886251JustHavingFunParticipantI’m…….relieved! Yesterday’s thunderstorms broke the oppressive heat. Still warm, but I turned off the A/C, opened the window and came out of the bedroom.
iceberg lettuce – LOL very funny
My head is still in the heat, though. Going to Israel in a few weeks. @Toi – save some popsicles for me. I’ll meet you at the makolet!
July 19, 2012 8:59 pm at 8:59 pm #886252NechomahParticipantI’m …..
…turning on my A/C earlier each day and being very grateful that I have A/C now as compared to the heat wave of a whole month that we had back in August 2010, which was exactly when I was moving into my new home, which I insisted (with my husband’s 100% agreement) must have A/C.
…looking forward to the fall and winter when it will be easier to manage with the weather although getting dressed in the mornings for the kids takes longer.
… setting up a pool in my yard so the kids can stay cool, although why I have to fill it up with WARM water is beyond me. (The pool was officially closed today).
… buying tickets for the local half-Olympic sized pool at a cheap price to give my kids something cool and entertaining to do during the vacation. I’m also getting a jump up on finding out the pool hours so we’ll be able to look forward to going.
… hoping to arrange a vacation in an even hotter location just to give the kids a chance to see some new places they’ve never seen before and take their minds off boredom and heat.
That’s how we’re keeping cool.
July 20, 2012 1:31 am at 1:31 am #886253đŤSyag LchochmaParticipantCleaning the basement, the coolest place in the house. (doing laundry down here too) My kids send me food down thru the laundry chute and I’ve been sleeping in the closet with the camping equipment. I’ll be upstairs as soon as it turns 75.
July 20, 2012 3:03 am at 3:03 am #886254more_2MemberAppreciate the heat. Because as soon as the cold weather kicks in you’ll be complaining then too.
Moskidoodle, you IS right. Hot and cool are the same thing.
