Ed Koch has a bridge named after him, so why not David Dinkins?
The Council renamed the Queensboro Bridge after former Mayor Koch last March despite gripes from some Queens pols opposed to the change. Dinkins ousted Koch in 1989.
The Willis Avenue Bridge spans the Harlem River from the South Bronx to East Harlem.
It opened in 1901 and 70,000 vehicles cross the toll-free bridge every day.

Dinkins deserves much credit. It took real ability, in New York City, to make it possible for the city to spend the 20 years with a Republican mayor. No mere fool could have accomplished that.

The most appropriate thing to do would be to name the OLD, replaced, Willis Avenue Bridge after him.

March 15, 2018 1:36 pm at 1:36 pm #1491080👑RebYidd23ParticipantIt’s not okay to keep changing the names of things. If these people want to name something after someone, why don’t they just use their children like everyone else?
March 15, 2018 3:29 pm at 3:29 pm #1491211yehudayonaParticipantNext thing you know, someone will post a comment on an old topic about LGA saying “LaGuardia isn’t even the mayor anymore.”
March 16, 2018 3:51 pm at 3:51 pm #1492020chiefshmerelParticipantThey generally don’t name things after people who are still alive.
March 16, 2018 6:17 pm at 6:17 pm #1492076yehudayonaParticipantchiefshmerel, the Queensborough Bridge was renamed the Ed Koch Bridge in 2011. Koch died in 2013.
March 18, 2018 1:54 pm at 1:54 pm #1493494The little I knowParticipantI think they should name a manhole that creates a pipeline into the sewage system after Dinkins. It would be appropriate for someone who desecrated whatever New York once was into the anti-semitic, racially divided place it became. That was not based on fact, but on fake news generated by the black hate mongers and supported in every way by this failure called Dinkins. There should never be anything in NYC that is a positive memory to him.
March 18, 2018 2:28 pm at 2:28 pm #1493501👑RebYidd23ParticipantWhether a bridge is named after a person should be based on how that person’s name sounds.
