I am really sad that Pesach is over. I LOVE this yom tov, and though I seem to be in the minority (at least according to my friends who endlessly stress out over it), I cannot wait for it to arrive each year. I feel that to compromise, for all the work and koach we put into it, it should last a month, and comes once every four years in that case! JK, I would miss it, if we did things that way.
April 15, 2012 7:37 pm at 7:37 pm #867764🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantMy sentiments exactly
April 15, 2012 7:39 pm at 7:39 pm #867765You are a minority!
Matzos always give me digestive trouble. And I don’t like staying up too late for the sedorim. 2 AM is the limit for me.
But your enthousiasm is praiseworthy!
April 15, 2012 7:56 pm at 7:56 pm #867766Boro Park GirlMembernice idea!!!! i think it should come every year and should last for a month!!!!!!Then we would finally have time to enjoy Yom tov- it should be cycles of yom tov and chol hamoed and it would be great!
April 15, 2012 8:25 pm at 8:25 pm #867767happym19MemberI agree completly! i love pesach! i wish it could last longer after all the preparation, but regardless pescah is such an enjoyable yuntif! 🙂
April 15, 2012 9:13 pm at 9:13 pm #867768ZeesKiteParticipantOomis: I feel the same. Although I wasn’t up to your speed with preparations, I do too anticipate it WITH JOY. Yes, it IS hard work, but oh so REWARDING!!! The special mitzvohs, chinuch, tradition, family. Priceless!!! That’s why we thank HaShem for giving us his special Moadim.
April 15, 2012 9:19 pm at 9:19 pm #867769ZeesKiteParticipantAnd one more thing, I think is important. Too many people, I hear, associate stress and anxiety with this special Yom Tov. Their children pick up on these vibes and grow to c”v have a distaste for it. We try to put in simcha in our preparations, we make an effort to anticipate the Yom Tov with joy.
April 15, 2012 10:25 pm at 10:25 pm #867770🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantkind of a funny comment coming from a person who put up more than one thread about all the “work” that was being done/needing to be done.
April 15, 2012 11:01 pm at 11:01 pm #867771ZeesKiteParticipantYes, I’ll confess. At the time it was truly demanding, overwhelming. But I did try to put things into perspective. (at least afterwards)
One more thing, there was a huge difference of what I let out here, our good buddies on the CR, to that of what I displayed toward my family. I don’t think they got the picture of a ‘difficult time’ at all.

I had that problem until I tried Spelt Matza. I dont know if its available where you live. But if it is, try it.
I had digestive issues, but this year I used it exclusively and had no troubles
April 15, 2012 11:57 pm at 11:57 pm #867773ImaofthreeParticipantMy children commented how relaxed Ima was about pesach preparations this year. I felt so complimented! That’s the way I want it to be and how I want them to feel!
April 16, 2012 12:21 am at 12:21 am #867774🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantWe forget that some of our good buddies in the CR are disenchanted teens, overwhelmed new BTs, and struggling yidden. It is probably best to be honest but careful even in here. Imaofthree: yasher kocheich
April 16, 2012 12:27 am at 12:27 am #867775ZeesKiteParticipantSyag: Got you. From now on – no complaining. “And that’s a campaign promise”
April 16, 2012 4:38 am at 4:38 am #867776oomisParticipantI think that how we (parents) react to the preparations, DOES have a strong impact on how our children feel towards Pesach. It can be a case of maw ha-eydus… etc. or ma ha-avoda hazos lachem… depending on how we express our own feelings.
I always preferred for my kids to feel as I did growing up – that Pesach is utterly special and magical, and truly a case of ma nishtana. My parents always allowed us to stay up for the entire sedarim, and my father O”H would bump the table slightly during Sh’foch Chamoscha, so it appeared that Eliyahu Hanavi had drunk from his kos. The impression that left on me as a child, still carries through to today, when I am absolutely certain Eliyahu is in our home for that brief moment.
April 16, 2012 1:33 pm at 1:33 pm #867777adamsParticipantI am with the OP. One of the perhaps silly things I do is to continue to eat Matza exclusively for as long as possible. I have a supply of both SHmura and regular but only the high quality such as oat and whole wheat which i can get for free after the Yom Tov.
I find it as a spiritual help although I understand there is not the same Kedusha associated.
BUt it think the trick is to find that highness if you will, during the normal rest of the year.
April 16, 2012 2:27 pm at 2:27 pm #867778BTGuyParticipantHi oomis1105.
I agree. There is a bit of a empty feeling as Pesach comes to an end, even though I hear people around me saying they cannot wait for it to be over and eat chometz.
I guess for the women, though, it may possibly be different since they put in superhuman hard word and preparation every day to make Pesach special.
A huge hakaras hatov to all the homemakers who made the entire Pesach even more special

THANK YOU! That was so very nice to hear, BT Guy. B”H my family really appreciated my efforts, and my wonderful son-in-law made a special point of telling me he could NOT wait for my farfel (and a few other Pesach specialties of mine), and looks forward to Pesach each year for that alone! Now THAT makes my day. And you know what – it doesn’t taste the same when I make it any time after Pesach, to use up the leftover farfel.
April 17, 2012 11:47 am at 11:47 am #867780Flatbush GuyMemberI too am really sad. Enjoy spending Pesach with family and the extra time I have to give my children. It is really a special Yom Tov.
April 17, 2012 1:46 pm at 1:46 pm #867781computer777ParticipantI also love Pesach and am always sad when it’s over. However, I wouldn’t want it to be for a month, I think a week is perfect. Everything Hashem does is perfect, and no doubt that makes a week of Pesach perfect.
