What haggadah should people buy for the seder suggest here
artscroll is the best!!! they also have ones with children illustrations that keep them going. personlly my kids love them!
As a BaalHabos (other then a BaalHabooze)*, having a thick haggada with many meforshim at the pesach seder has been very impractical and a tircha. Between the Ka’arah, matzos, the bechers, and everything else on the table, I have very little room on the table in front of me for any big haggada. For the past several years, I have been using a thin plain Haggada that has only the text with zero pirushim, and one that can stay open by itself. I prepare my divrei torah before pesach and use small cue cards to bring with me to the seder table.
*(My wife, btw, is the BaalHaBOSSta!….don’t mess!)

Practically speaking, with my very little ones, I use a very thin Haggadah with simply the text. I’ve even seen some that are laminated (makes sense with the Yayin, Charoset, etc…).
Once the little ones are in bed, the Haggadah Migdal Eder (with 119 Peirushim) is brought out.

Artscroll is what I use, but my Rov told me of a fantastic Haggadah (I do not recall the author) but it is referred to as the Holocaust haggadah, because it draws incredible comparisons between Galus Mitzrayim and the Hilocaust. If anyone knows about this, please post the name of the Rov who made the commentary.
When I was younger, I loved the Little Medrash Says haggadah, because it had fantastic explanations of everything (a bit wordy, but I’ve never had trouble with that). I just put in post-its by the actual haggadah pages so I wouldn’t have to constantly leaf through.
Now I think it’s too bulky so I’m on to my next obsession— the Baruch Chait/Gadi Pollack hagaddah. It’s fantastic

On actual Seder nite, I have been utilizing exclusively “The Secrets of the Haggadah” by HoRav Matisyohu Glazerson shlita, for years already.
One time this Haggodoh even got lost and I immediately went out to replace it, as I really enjoyed Davka this Haggodoh on Seder nite. [It eventually showed up again].
The print is so clear and well paginated.
There is a special place in my heart for the maxwell house ones
I feel likewise Tina, because my youngest son’s secular name is Maxwell, so being my Ben Zekunim, Maxwell occupies a special place in my heart.
Last year, I used the R’ Jonathan Sacks one the first night, and the R’ Y.B. Soloveitchik one the second night. I will probably do the same this year.
i like the heritage hagadda by r’ eliyahu kitov. then our basement flooded and got the hagaddah box :(. currently rotating hagaddos looking for my replacement
I always used the Artscroll Childrens’ Haggadah (some great stuff in there-pictures and comments) until a few years ago when I bought Rabbi Chait’s. Now I use his because the pictures are amazing and I got the laminated edition so I don’t have to worry as much about getting it dirty. Still, I always feel sad when I pass up the Artscroll.
R’ Meir (Marcus) Lehman has a GREAT Hagada. I don’t think it’s in print though.
I also love the Artscroll ones.
A few years ago I bought the one called “???? ??????” which is a compilation of many midrashim on the parsha of ????? ????? and the ???? itself, although as mentioned earlier, the seder night is not the time for looking at ??????. Preparation is key.
A well prepared leader, collates all the knowledge beforehand and plans how and when they will deliver each piece of information.
I personally like this ???? as it concentrates on what happened thereby fulfilling what it says ?? ????? ???? ?????? ????? ??? ?? ?????. (I personally dont like the lomdish vorts like why it says “??” not “???” etc. That is not for seder night IMO).
Judaica Illuminations just put out a beautiful Haggadah, called ‘The Illuminated Haggadah’.
The Maxwell House Hagadah is atill available for free at Shoprite
The Toras Chaim Haggadah which has a compilation of many Rishonim(12 different) on pashut pshat of the haggadah. Rav Nebontzols haggadah is also great I have the one in Hebrew but I think there is one in English not sure if it is the same thing though.

Has anyone here seen or heard about the new Darkness to Destiny Hagadda by Rabbi Bernstein? I’m looking to buy a haggada that is interesting, inspiring and understandable (read: written in English) to use by the seder this year. Anyone know anything about it or can recommend another hagadda that I would be able to use…
It obviously depends on what sort of style you are looking for, which is normally determined or seriously influenced by your Gender, Age, IQ Level and Background.
Some people prefer a basic Hagadda, without many extras, with only translation, and perhaps a few pictures. Those range from the Artscroll Childrens Haggada to the Boruch Chait/Gadi Pollack Hagodo (children up to six or seven generally prefer Artscroll, Kids eight-120 prefer the Gadi Pollak [which is more advanced]).
There is a “Visions of Greatness” Haggadda with a nice Moshol and Story on every piece, which is very illuminating and makes a great [ENGLISH] read for the Ladies.
For use at the Seder, it is very impractical to have a Hagadda with lots of Pirushim, which require lots of page turning, and there is no time to look things up at the Seder anyway. However, for preparation, there are thousands of excellently produced Haggados for sale! For nice, sweet “vertelach” of varied style and from a range of sources, see ??? ??. For a more heavy (buty excellent if you are leading the Seder), see R’ Shimshon Pincus’s Hagodo. (I think R’ Yackov Galinsky has a Hagodo as well).
Another extremely interesting Haggadah is the “Seder Aruch” – it is a 3 Volume set, and the Third Volume is the Haggadah. It goes into all the Minhagim and Halachos with all the different reasons (Pshat Remes Drush Sod!). Also very important for the one leading the seder.
The Toras Chaim Hagodo is not so easy to use, but another excellent Sefer brought out with a collection of the Rishonim (Rashi, Ritva, Rashba, Shibolei Haleket, Avudraham, and a few more I cannot remember) which are very “yesodosdik” to know, but with less things you would want to say over at the Seder.
I’m afraid I have no idea in the Chassidishe market, (although I had a Rebbi in school who was very into Likutei Kerem Shlomo, but I have no idea)
— BTW — Lots of people are saying that Seder is not for Lomdus/Halacha, it is more for Hashkafa and Emunah — you are 100% correct that a focal part of the Seder is about Emunah understanding and reliving the Geulah. However, discussing the Halachos are also a chelek of the Mitzvah – See SHULCHAN ARUCH where the ???? explains ???? ??? ???? ????? ???? ??????? ????? ????? ????? ???????? ?? ??????? ????. This is HALOCHO.
(If anybody is looking for seforim who discuss the Lomdus involving Pesach, there is a set of Seforim by R’ Moshe Shternbuch called ?????? ???????, and another excellent set of seforim called ????? ???. [There is also a sefer brought out with a collection of all the Brisker Toros, but i don’t remember the name.)
The bernstein Haggada is beautiful and easy to understand / read. a bit litvish, but presented nicely
the little medrash says haggodah by far the most fought over, the reb shach haggodo for best stories, and the reb chaim kanivski was sold out before i could buy it. the classic artscroll paperback is def most practical.

I’ve got plenty of time at the seder. The beginning of the seder goes something like this:
Father: “Kadei”
6 kids: “I have a Dvar Torah!”
2 other kids: “Me too!!!!”
Father: “So who wants to be first…”
20 minutes later: “Wait, don’t make kiddush yet!! I still have another…”
And I slowly turn over and continue my nap. Good thing we have pillows 😉
I have plenty of time to read a nice long hagadda, but I really need an English one.

My favorite used to be A Night to Remember: A Haggadah of Contemporary Voices. Then my husband gave me Women at the Seder (edited by Joel Wolowelsky) as a gift while we were dating, and now I use that. We like to collect a lot of different Haggadahs for everyone to choose from at the Seder.

What is the “Meon Loez”?
Rav Taubs is in English. it has some really nice dvar torahs in it.
I’m looking for a new readable English Haggadah to use by this year’s seder.
Does anyone know anything about the new haggados that were published this year? Is R’ Yechiel Spero’s “Touched by our Story” hagaddah similar to his previous “Touched by a Seder”? Has anyone looked at “The Generation to Generation Haggadah” that Artsroll has been advertising?
I’d appreciate any info on these or any other English haggados! TIA!
