Is eating cereal for dinner, or another light breakfast-style food, any more or less healthy than having a typical dinner like chicken and side dishes or similar?

It is a great way of being Mekayem the Mitzwah of “Tashbisu Se’or miBoteichem”.

Instead of being Zoche to fulfill this Mitzwah only at breakfast time, you’ll have 2 opportunities each day to fulfill this Mitzwah:- Breakfast & Supper time.

Some of the Kashi cereals actually have double digit grams of protein in addition to the whole-grain carbs. So, technically, they are not leaving you lacking in nutrition for dinner or any other meal.

Are you eating a bigger meal for the midday meal? That is the way a lot of people eat over here in EY, the big meal in the day rather than in the evening. I’ve done it this way for years but now that my kids are bigger and wait the full 6 hours it’s getting harder to give them a milchig dinner at a normal hour since they come home pretty late from school. It’s a challenge to find a balance, but cereal for dinner is OK if that’s what you want to eat. Make sure you’re getting a balanced diet the rest of the day to round it out.

How does one balance their daily diet (carbs/whole-grain/protein/etc.)?

I would rather say It is a great way of being violating the “Mitzvah of V’nishmartem and B’al Tashchis” of your body!!!

The vitamins and minerals there, are Not beneficial, especially for kids (B’kitzur nimratz).

In s’hmoineh esrei, the first thing is A’tah chonen and then goes R’efoeinuh etc!!

Eating cereal for breakfast is not healthy either. Unless it is cheerios or shredded wheat, v’chdomeh.

Almost all cereals have added sugar, and are made with refined grains. Including the healthy sounding ones like raisin bran and cornflakes.

Oh please. If you’re part of the crowd that believes that, nothing is healthy except long grain rice and mineral water. Enjoy your healthy diet.

Cheerios certainly has less sugar (not “no sugar”) than other cereals, but that doesn’t make it healthy.

Any cereal is better than fatty chicken close to bed time

I might be giving myself away.. However at some brissim I am the only one eating the chicken (even if it is only 7AM)

i probably wouldnt yet be able to exchange my morning coffee for a pack of Salami..

One of my pals’ dad is a mohel (he is also one). So once he is at a bris with dad, and after the chopping, he is getting ready to leave. His dad pulls two infant diapers out of his black bag, and hands him one saying “take a diaper.”

Friend takes, but wonders what for.

Dad then makes himself a bagel with spread, puts it in the diaper, and closes it up, and tosses it in his bag for the road. Friend follows suit.

The guy has been doing brissim for how long, and he can’t even remember to bring a sandwich bag with him? Improvising is for when caught unawares.

It is probably a decent dinner, given that in many countries other than USA, people eat their big meal of the day for lunch, and have yoghurt or salad and something light for supper.

It doesnt matter which order ur meals r in as long as u get in all ur daily protien, veggies… The healthiest way might be a typical americans lunch for breakfast, dinner for lunch, and breakfast for dinner.
