This thread is just to counterbalance those Brits in the “British Posters” thread!

Pfeh. The beauty of being American is that we don’t feel the need to justify our self-importance. Let the limeys have their thread, bless ’em.

Speaking of which- rant: You dont live in EY, you dont understand israeli politics, istaeli way of life, or the way theyve been living for 200 yaers. So stop shtelling your american values and shittos, your political correctness and insight, and let the tzibbur in EY live as they have since before your parents were toilet trained. End rant.

Hey, I’m American teenager and I got an 80 (top score) on the grammar section of the PSAT. Please don’t make generalizations.

Yes we can tell you’re american by YOUR spelling and lack of grammar. “its because” should have been “it’s because” where the ‘s indicates the missing letter i. “we american’s” should have been “we americans”. “whose american and whose not” should have been “who’s american and who’s not”. Who’s is a contraction for who is or who has eg who’s that man who stood on my hat. Whose refers to something belonging to or associated with eg the man whose hat it was became angry.

After almost 250 years, you still can’t speak the language properly!!

hate to break it to you but my spelling was just fine. It was my grammar that I didn’t check correctly before I send it.

I wrote that we can tell that you’re American by your spelling and lack of grammar. Spelling the USA way not the original UK way (nothing intrinsically wrong with that) but lack of grammar as pointed out above or as in “before I send it” rather than “before I sent it” which makes what you wrote incorrect even in American. (Haifagirl are you with me?)

you are right- I didn’t realize that- I always make the mistake of send and sent- I don’t know why but every time I write sent I change it automatically to send and its one of those things that spell check doesn’t pick up! 😉

Okay, I know you’re a troll so I shouldn’t be listening to you but where the heck did I pretend to be English?

Mr British Guy is, as always, really chilled and is not chas vsholom yank bashing. I was responding to a poster (who happens to claim to be American) who said we can tell Americans by their bad grammar. I only emphasised her point by pointing out to her some grammatical errors that she had made. Big Deal! Grammatical or spelling errors do not bother me; you get immune to it nowadays even if it does. Live and let live, and if posters write right or write wrong (or to bring it up to date whether the posters who type here are your type or not your type), just learn from your great president that you can even get the year totally wrong, (by signing 2008 instead of 2011) and still (pretend to) be president.

Stop generalizing, both of you. It’s annoying.

Can I order one grammatically-incorrect run-on sentence, sprinkled with oodles of criticism, please?

(Feel free to point out my minor grammatical mistakes. Thanks.)
