For all those who don’t want to see the half-time show during the Super Bowl, there is another option! Yeshiva University will be streaming a shiur on their website during halftime, do provide another option. I don’t know if the mods will allow me to post a direct link, but you can just search for YU Halftime show, and it should be the first result.
February 5, 2012 7:13 am at 7:13 am #849448YW Moderator-42ModeratorBatai Medrashim around the world will be open during halftime as well
February 5, 2012 7:13 am at 7:13 am #849449YW Moderator-42Moderatorhttp://www.torahanytime.com will be open then as well…
February 5, 2012 12:53 pm at 12:53 pm #849450apushatayidParticipantSeveral minyanim for maariv in my neighborhood scheduled for halftime. The Berditchever would be proud.
February 5, 2012 3:17 pm at 3:17 pm #849451WIYMemberBelieve it or not Batei Medrashim will be open during the whole game as well as pregame and post game.
Believe it or not there will be Jews in the united states (and other parts of the world) who will not interrupt their regular learning sedarim for the heilige stupid bowl.
February 5, 2012 8:06 pm at 8:06 pm #849452Feif UnParticipantYou can make fun all you want. The fact is that thousands of frum Jews will be watching the game, and YU did something so people would have a good alternative to the Halftime Show.
February 5, 2012 9:13 pm at 9:13 pm #849453MonseyMedicMemberNebuch, its so sad how people try to make something which is bad into something that is good!!! if someone is watching the super bowl, dont try to make it kosher!!! and then we want to know why …… is happening. lets all wake up!!
February 5, 2012 9:14 pm at 9:14 pm #849454ItcheSrulikMemberI won’t be watching the game because I’m not a football fan. Instead I’ll be helping someone else organize a party.
February 5, 2012 11:35 pm at 11:35 pm #849456147ParticipantIs there a Maariv at the stadium during 1/2 time? If so:- Where?

February 6, 2012 1:12 am at 1:12 am #849459longarekelMemberDoes y.U. also have shiurim during every commercial? We don’t want to miss even one minute of torah. Suggestion: put a giant(pun intended) screen in the y.U. bait midrash so during the breaks you can go right back to the sefer in front of you. Ad masai atem poschim al shtei hase’iphim? btw is the topic of the lecture(shiur)’Halachic reasons why it is assur to ignore the superbowl’? This is a chumra that the y.U. audience would like.
February 6, 2012 1:30 am at 1:30 am #849460Rav TuvParticipantyes SB is bitul zman. Unlike those posting in CR against the SB & YU who are doing avodas haKodesh.
February 6, 2012 2:01 am at 2:01 am #849461apushatayidParticipantNow that you finished bashing YU, who is next on your list?
February 6, 2012 2:40 am at 2:40 am #849462147ParticipantNaturei Karta is next on the list to be bashed.
February 6, 2012 4:07 am at 4:07 am #849463writersoulParticipantHonestly, if people will be watching it anyway, why not give them something so that it’s not entirely bittul zman? Why knock them?
And of course, going on the internet is what, exactly?

Feif Un wasn’t trying to bash Y.U., it just came out that way. 😉
February 6, 2012 1:45 pm at 1:45 pm #849465apushatayidParticipantSome people can’t see any good in other people. Some refuse to. Others think it is funny to egg them on.
February 6, 2012 2:31 pm at 2:31 pm #849466zahavasdadParticipantThe whole Bittul Torah argument is irrelvent. Everything is Bittul Torah unless its Torah
Even Eating, Sleeping and going to the Bathroom is Bittul Torah .
How many stories have we heard of great Rabbanim who slept only a few hours a night so they could get every last minute of learning in.
If you are able to spent every moment you have learning, Kov HaKavod. Most of us cant and need breaks.
Healthy Breaks can actually make one learn better as you get refreshed.
February 6, 2012 3:19 pm at 3:19 pm #849467emanParticipantWhen this Zaidy was young and in Yeshivah, I went around before the Superbowl and asked who was interested in a minyan after the game(night seder was optional in my days as this was a college yeshiva).
A few bochrim attack me telling me I’m making a mockery of tefiloh b tzibur. I couldn’t get the minyan together so I missed part of the game to daven btzibur. The attack bochrim were no where to be found at maariv.
To answer the “let’s don lkav zechus” people. This was the early 70’s in Manhattan and there were not many minyonim in the neighborhood.
February 6, 2012 3:57 pm at 3:57 pm #849468cantoresqMemberAd masai atem poschim al shtei hase’iphim?
For as long as people need to eat to survive.
