Ok this isnt an important rant but I just feel like posting this.
I was driving today and I saw a car with one of those and it just stuck me how childish and pathetic that is.
What are you trying to prove? You care what strangers on the road think? Why would you advertise to the world that your kid is an honor roll student, they dont know you or your kid?!
What do you think?
January 19, 2012 11:05 pm at 11:05 pm #847208ayshosheeParticipantik people who do it and its too be proud of their child and make them feel good!
January 19, 2012 11:05 pm at 11:05 pm #847209real-briskerMemberWIY – I think it’s more for the kid than for the parent.
January 19, 2012 11:09 pm at 11:09 pm #847210squeakParticipantWaiting in line for carpools, or at school soccer games?
January 19, 2012 11:15 pm at 11:15 pm #847211TheGoqParticipantI think its more as an advertisement for the school.
January 20, 2012 1:38 am at 1:38 am #847212YW Moderator-72Participantwould you prefer:
“My ____________(fill in the blank tatty/mommy/bubby/zeidy) was poster of the week on YWN CR”
on the back of a tricyle…
January 20, 2012 2:40 am at 2:40 am #847213wanderingchanaParticipantHow about “YWN CR Poster of the Week” on the Poster of the Week’s subtitle?
January 20, 2012 3:05 am at 3:05 am #847214WIYMemberMod can you make my subtitle CR poster of the week? lol
January 20, 2012 5:30 am at 5:30 am #847215gefenParticipantI’ve seen bumper stickers that say “Oh yeah? Well my kid can beat up your honor student”
Talk about childish and pathetic!
January 20, 2012 5:51 am at 5:51 am #847216popa_bar_abbaParticipantAnd your honors kid is also a crybaby after my kid beats him up.
Talk about childish and pathetic!
January 20, 2012 9:46 am at 9:46 am #847217kapustaParticipant72, you may be onto something with the poster of the week thing.
I think the “honor student” bumper sticker is more for the “shtick” of doing it than actually having an honor student. Its wonderful that Mr/s. Random Driver has a kid whos an honor student, and good for them, but it doesn’t make much difference to me (and probably not many other people either). Sorry.
Theres also “your kid may be an honor student, but you’re still an idiot.” Whoops, wrong thread.
January 20, 2012 12:02 pm at 12:02 pm #847218ayshosheeParticipantnow thats just sad i understand my kid is an honor student but those r childish and pathetic
January 20, 2012 1:24 pm at 1:24 pm #847219wanderingchanaParticipantWIY – imagine a newbie wondering out loud why *everyone’s* subtitle reads “YWN CR Poster of the Week” 🙂
January 20, 2012 3:02 pm at 3:02 pm #847220BTGuyParticipantHi WIY.
I think they are doing that for their kids who get those stickers from school. It’s a family thing.
I can totally understand it, and I am totally for it.
The dumb ones, to me, are the ones that read, “My kid beat up your honor student.” Why would they want THAT on their bumper? It’s mean. Also, the ones that read, “My pomeranian is smarter than your honor student,” are equally dumb.
It’s the battle of “on the road reading materials.” I appreciate drivers want to give us something to read at a red light, but let’s not have rivalries.
The real problem that I can see is for the child. Suppose just one marking period they get even a B-. Off goes the sticker or the kid has to look at it for four months until the next report card. They have pressure to live up to a bumper sticker.
January 20, 2012 4:00 pm at 4:00 pm #847221feivelParticipanthow about “baby on board”?
okay, i was going to crash into you, but seeing that you have a baby in the car ill be more careful
January 20, 2012 4:19 pm at 4:19 pm #847222BTGuyParticipantI nominate for most legendary, classic bumper sticker, “Camp Fest.”
For most legendary and classic bumper magnet, “1-800-PICKLE”

January 20, 2012 4:32 pm at 4:32 pm #847223dvorakMemberI dunno, I have a bumper sticker that says My Kid Is A Talmid Chacham 🙂

January 20, 2012 5:36 pm at 5:36 pm #847226popa_bar_abbaParticipantI have a bumper sticker that says My Kid Is A Talmid Chacham.
My am haaretz kid can make fun of your talmid chochom.
January 20, 2012 6:28 pm at 6:28 pm #847227BTGuyParticipantlol @ PBA
January 20, 2012 7:07 pm at 7:07 pm #847228gefenParticipantFeivel and Wiy – the baby on board sign is for a different reason. I also used to think it was weird for the reason Feivel mentioned. Then I found out that it’s in case there is an accident C”V, the people who come to rescue should know there might be a baby to look for in the wreck in case the driver or other passengers can’t tell them (unconscious etc).
January 20, 2012 8:35 pm at 8:35 pm #847229WIYMemberGefen
Thanks for explaining that.
January 21, 2012 10:56 pm at 10:56 pm #847230Shticky GuyParticipantI have a bumper sticker that says My Kid Is A Talmid Chacham
I’ve gotta make one that says ‘My Kid Is A Ben Talmid Chacham’ ?
Or hows about the one that says ‘Previous Owner Had Honor Student’!
BTW Gefen thats a nice theory but in practice guys are just showing off that they are parents. Otherwise explain eg little princess on board or mr small on board etc.
Anyways dont you LOL at cars that have Baby On Board and there’s only the driver in the car!!!
January 22, 2012 2:25 am at 2:25 am #847231yoyo56Memberhaha (had to that!) there have been many threads ive been reading recently this one really made me laugh!

Thank you.

January 23, 2012 8:16 pm at 8:16 pm #847234blinkyParticipantWell if i would see such a bumper sticker i would think that the kids definitely doesn’t take after the parents as the sticker is not grammatically correct! (its kids are, not is) lol
January 23, 2012 9:08 pm at 9:08 pm #847235apushatayidParticipant“would you prefer: My ____________(fill in the blank tatty/mommy/bubby/zeidy) was poster of the week on YWN CR”
Certainly a lot better than My ________ was on the poster of the week in the post office.
January 30, 2012 3:02 pm at 3:02 pm #847236bptParticipantBumper sticker spotted yesterday in Flatbush:
“I love my kids WETHER OR NOT they make the honor roll.”
If this is your van, please honk!
January 31, 2012 11:38 am at 11:38 am #847238pascha bchochmaParticipantIf it makes them happy what do you care?
So they want to show off about their kids – this is actually one of the better bumper stickers out there!
January 31, 2012 6:46 pm at 6:46 pm #847239giznie anitMemberthese should be assur. its a knockoff of the public schools and is chukas hagoyim.

Is that how they spelled whether? I guess the kid wrote the script for the bumper sticker.
