Please do not fall into hypocrisy. Rav Levanon served in keva and in miluim; He has never said he wouldn’t go back to reserve if necessary or that he will tell all of his thousands of graduates not to do miluim; He is simply resigning his position so that he will have the right to be critical of policy. In fact, that in itself is a huge recognition on his part of the authority of the medinah and the IDF, that he felt necessary to remove himself from a position where he was under military authority before he criticized.

It’s less impressive than it sounds. In his “hesder” program, Jewish boys serve in an army that drafts females, which is assur by all the gedolim even if they don’t sing. It’s no great heroism for him to resign from the program while leaving the bachurim in. Also, the army keeps typical RZ loophole Yiddishkeit in all other things (Shabbos, kashrus, davening etc.) and where is his protest over that?
The Mizrachniks are scratching their heads now. Their whole shita is that the medina is “aschalta digeulah,” and now the medina is turning against them.
Oh well, they should have thought about that earlier.
