Whats your opinion of those chanukka decorations made for decorating the outside of the home. For example, 10′ electric powered blow up dreidel, blue and white little lights to frame the house (as opposed to colored xmas lights)…
Imho, although we have to show off the neis – hence the menorah – going about it the way that the goyim do it, is not the right way to do it.

I agree with you.
On top of that, I dont like going into department stores and seeing an electric menorah with all the light bulbs turned on.
Also, in the past, even when Chanuka ended way earlier than Xmas, they still keep a fully lit menorah next to the tree until their holiday. It’s like our holiday is being abused and I feel like rescuing the menorah, even if it is electric (tinok shenishba?), but I dont want to be written up in the paper as the guy who tried to save a menorah from JC Penny.
Oh well….

After all, chabad does basically the same thing, although with better intentions obviously..

If possible I adjust them to the correct number of lights.

There were about 10 of us there and i just sat quietly as they all went on about how beautiful it is and how they’d love to check it out. Ever heard of this house?
