UC Davis students get pepper sprayed

Did you all watch the clip on youtube? What do you think?

Here is my opinion:

The university had decided they would not allow the gathering, and sent university police in riot gear to break it up. The students forcibly refused to leave, and needed to be removed forcibly.

In such a situation, I think they should rethink whether it is worth pushing the issue.

But, if they still want to get rid of them, the university is within its rights.

The safest way to do that, is to pepper spray. The police don’t need to wrestle every clown, and maybe get hurt. Just spray, pull, repeat.

Many people are mad about how calmly the cop sprayed them. I was glad it was not done in haste or panic, but deliberately.

The point is, that they were breaking the law, and they were doing it forcibly. I don’t consider it peaceful just because they were sitting on the ground. If you are in my house and refusing to leave, and say you won’t leave and will make me drag you out, that is forcible, and violent. Making me use force against you to assert my rights is violence on your part. And the police should just spray you. As they did.
