Did anyone hear about the mic slip up overhearing what Sarkozy and Obama said about Netanyahu. Sarkozy called Netanyahu a liar and Obama replied that at least he doesn’t have to deal with him everyday!!
What kind of president says that?? How can Obama say something which doesn’t represent what Americans believe in?? How did any Jew or Christian vote for this madman??

to be fair you cant possibly expect someone to believe every word that comes out of their mouths especially a politician. what they say when the mic is off is in my opinion irrelevant

Envy is a terrible thing. Obama is glad he does not have to deal with Netanyahu because Obama fancies himself a great speaker. Well, Netanyahu spoke before the US Congress, as you may remember, and as so often in many of his speeches, he hit a Grand Slam. Obama is a zero!
Dont believe it. I cant find the story on CNN and the NYT has it buried under Topics- not under the World section.
On the other hand, the BBC has is prominently featured, so who knows.

enlightenedjew: The comments were inappropriate between world leaders about another world leader, and quite hypocritical. I have a problem with this Obama scenario, too. This one is more personal, like other issues such as Jonathan Pollard and Obama’s being hired out by Saudi Arabia to work on “fixing the arab world”. Others are totally free to be ok with this or any other Obama situation..
I wasn’t surprised in the least.
Sarkozy is a frenchman. We jews have experience with the french, and it isn’t good.
Obama has shown his colors plenty of times as well.
Hashem is in charge, and he creates opportunities to allow the truth to come out.

Not surprised at all. It’s not like most of us thought that Obama had a different views about Israel (or its’ leaders), but now we hear him say it.
Soliek – What they say when the mic is on (and they know it) is what they know they should or have to say. When it is off (or they think it is) they say thier true feelings.

ever called customer service and got the rigmarole…and upon hanging up you proceed to either swear under your breath or disparage the customer service rep…?
no. it really doesnt matter. if i were obama and i were dealing with israel id also be a bit stressed…not because netanyahu is a pain…but because the whole situation is stressful.
Everyone, my comments are aimed at those above who say “oh this is just par for the course for those Jew-hating leaders”. Just because someone is critical of Israeli policies or Israeli leaders doesn’t mean they are unjustified or wrong.
Of COURSE one would like to expect that world leaders maintain the utmost civility between each other, both on and off the record. But I concur with walter sobchsk that this is simply not the case…
I think his point was that as politicians their true feelings don’t matter. What matters is what they do when the mic is on-i.e. when they are representing their country. As long as Obama treats Israel well while representing American we are okay, regardless of his personal feelings.
two reactions- 1- if obama is dealing with an ally, a world power, who hates jews, he has nothing to lose by not confronting him, and sucking up a bit. they both go home happy. no-one knows and no-ones the wiser.
2- we know he doesnt like us. whats the stink about.

Just because someone is critical of Israeli policies or Israeli leaders doesn’t mean they are unjustified or wrong.
Depends which policies. If for example, they are critical of Israeli policy of allowing toeva rallies, then they would be correct. If for example, they are critical of Israeli policy of protecting us and killing terrorists, then they would be- as you say- “unjustified” and “wrong”.
