I was wondering if there are any frum Beatle fans out there like myself. You can come out of the closet – no one knows your identities.
November 6, 2011 1:14 am at 1:14 am #982417GumBallMemberEEWW!! Beatles are GROSSSSS!!!! theyre HUGE GROSS INSECTS!!! UGH!!
November 6, 2011 1:44 am at 1:44 am #982418The FrumguyParticipantPlease note the spelling.
November 6, 2011 1:48 am at 1:48 am #982419BSDMemberI love them “Yeah yeah yeah”
November 6, 2011 1:54 am at 1:54 am #982420✡onegoal™ParticipantNope. I live alone in octopus’s garden in a yellow submarine where all you need is love. It would be great if we could come together. I want to hold your hand and sing with you. Then when I’m sixty-four I will say, “Remember yesterday when we would sing Beatles songs and run through strawberry fields forever.” With a little help from my friends I’ll get out of this submarine and- oh here comes the sun got to go.
November 6, 2011 1:58 am at 1:58 am #982421ddParticipantShlock Rock has an album “Shabbat in Liverpool”. Highly recommended for frum Beatles fans.
November 6, 2011 1:59 am at 1:59 am #982422ItcheSrulikMemberI have two very good friends who are utterly obsessed with them.
November 6, 2011 2:07 am at 2:07 am #982423always hereParticipant<– Beatles fan.
my 1st husband saw them @ Shea Stadium in ’65.
November 6, 2011 2:11 am at 2:11 am #982424JotharMemberDo you mean the Rutles?
November 6, 2011 2:31 am at 2:31 am #982425aries2756ParticipantIsn’t Sir Paul McCartney the only one left? He has always been a gentleman and always conducted himself as a true British citizen as far as I can recall. Yes I will always be a Beatles fan. Not because of the antics or the publicity stunts but because of the Music and some of the messages that sent. I don’t recall them ever to be vulgar or irritating while their counterparts use shock value to gain attention.
November 6, 2011 2:32 am at 2:32 am #982426hockaroundtheclockMemberListening to them and Simon & Garfunkel gives you a lot more hisoirerus than listening to lipa and all of today’s half-baked jewish music.
November 6, 2011 4:15 am at 4:15 am #982427bein_hasdorimParticipantGumBall; LOL! I don’t know if you intended the humor, that makes it even funnier!!!
November 6, 2011 4:26 am at 4:26 am #982429MiddlePathParticipantI listen to them every now and then. I wouldn’t consider myself a big “fan” of them. I’m living in the 70’s and 80’s musically, not too much in the 60’s.
November 6, 2011 5:07 am at 5:07 am #982430WolfishMusingsParticipantIsn’t Sir Paul McCartney the only one left?
Ringo Starr is still around as well.
I was never a huge Beetles fan, but I find that my appreciation of them has grown as I’ve gotten older.

November 6, 2011 1:29 pm at 1:29 pm #982437zahavasdadParticipantIsnt Imagine about atheism?

This from the guy who started the “how old are you” thread.
November 6, 2011 4:05 pm at 4:05 pm #982440aries2756Participantit was a different era back then. We didn’t have access to the kind of jewish music and jewish icons/singers that we have today.
November 6, 2011 5:15 pm at 5:15 pm #982441The FrumguyParticipantlolkatz:
Even if we revealed ages in the Coffee Room, everyone still remains anonymous. I’m not sure I undertsand your point.
To everyone else – you’ve got GREAT taste in music!
November 6, 2011 6:10 pm at 6:10 pm #982442RSRHMemberzahavasdad: “Imagine” isn’t about atheism per se; anti-secular music Jews sometimes hinge on one line of the song (“and no religion too”) and claim that the song is atheistic thus pasuling all Beatles music and all “non-Jewish” music as well. If you listen to the full song it is pretty clear that the song is about the destructiveness of man-made civilization; how man has used his ability to oppress his fellows through various devices – including man-made institutional religion. Agree or disagree with the view expressed, it isn;t about atheism.
November 6, 2011 7:53 pm at 7:53 pm #982443AriInMDParticipantAlso, “Imagine” isn’t even by the Beatles. It was by John Lennon (one of the four Beatles) and his wife, and was written and recorded after the band broke up.
November 7, 2011 12:34 am at 12:34 am #982444JotharMember“Imagine” is about atheism “Above us only sky, no religion too”…”imagine no possessions”.
Thefrumguy, the mods have confirmed that there is an active stalker here. People need to be careful what info they release.
November 7, 2011 2:15 am at 2:15 am #982445A Woman Outside BrooklynParticipantI’ll always be a Beatles fan. My daughter asked for a birthday present a CD with the Boston Pops under Arthur Fiedler doing Beatles songs. That way she gets to enjoy the music, and not worry about lyrics.
November 7, 2011 3:18 am at 3:18 am #982446ronrsrMemberHey Jewed.
November 7, 2011 3:19 am at 3:19 am #982447anon for thisParticipantJothar, weren’t the Rutles a parody of the Beatles?
November 7, 2011 3:14 pm at 3:14 pm #982448Feif UnParticipantWhen I was in 12th grade, my parents spoke with my Rebbe about the fact that I enjoy non-Jewish music. His response was, “When we were his age, we listened to the Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel, so why is he any different?”
Just to note, my 12th grade Rebbe’s family was very close to my mother’s family. They lived on the same block, and both families knew each other well, so he knew what music they listened to.
November 7, 2011 3:18 pm at 3:18 pm #982449BTGuyParticipantRolling Stones are better, but don’t start me up on this topic. lol. This is not the place.
November 7, 2011 4:16 pm at 4:16 pm #982450JotharMemberI was 12 when the White Album came out. It was a seminal moment of my formative years.
November 7, 2011 5:25 pm at 5:25 pm #982451nfgo3MemberMcCartney’s first wife was also Jewish, which makes his children Jewish, which, perhaps, explains why his daughter Stella is in the garment business 🙂
November 7, 2011 8:37 pm at 8:37 pm #982452JotharMemberI was 12 when the Black album came out. After that, nothing else mattered.
November 7, 2011 11:14 pm at 11:14 pm #982453Feif UnParticipantJothar: I prefer 3 albums before the Black one, but that’s just my preference. Choosing a favorite is like pulling teeth.
November 7, 2011 11:41 pm at 11:41 pm #982454lemaysaMemberthe beatles music has influenced every genre of music including jewish music and frankly i find their music more pleasent then any “jewish” music being produced these days..
November 8, 2011 3:17 am at 3:17 am #982455lolkatzMemberJothar, how could you have been 12 when the White and Black albums came out? There’s a gap of 20 years between them.
November 8, 2011 4:49 am at 4:49 am #982456MiddlePathParticipantThe Black album was pretty much the end of their glory days. Sad, but true. I dub them unforgiven for selling out. And I have no remorse for that. Am I evil? Possibly, but I just want justice for all. But really, no one can judge aside from the Master of puppets. The rest of us simply fade to black..all we can hope for is being the hero of the day.
November 8, 2011 4:07 pm at 4:07 pm #982457JotharMemberI was 12 when the double album came out… both the MBD double album and the Use Your Illusion double album… nothing lasts forever, daaga minayin?
I was 12 when the Dark Side of the Moon came out… the Wizard of Oz was never the same.
November 8, 2011 4:19 pm at 4:19 pm #982458BTGuyParticipantActually, the Beatles, who were great, no doubt, were media favorites who owe a plethora of hakaras hatov to George Martin who orchestrated nearly all of their songs. They also received too much credit for being innovative as their counter cultural influence was actually motivated by the experiences of the hippie movement such as the Grateful Dead and Ken Kesey, as evidenced in a popular, at that time, Tom Wolfe book.
The Beatles changed the world, but they were a conduit for sounds and styles they did not necessarily originate. But they are always good to hear, and as Brits, they are true Americana with songs that are timeless. I like to say that while other bands during that time made great music, the Beatles wrote great songs.

who beatles or posters?
November 8, 2011 6:39 pm at 6:39 pm #982460always hereParticipantMiddlePath~ sly references, but I caught ’em: ‘Master of Puppets’, ‘Fade to Black’, & ‘Hero For A Day’ are all Metallica songs…
November 8, 2011 7:20 pm at 7:20 pm #982461always hereParticipantas are a bunch of other songs listed in your post.. i.e. ‘Unforgiven’, ‘No Remorse’, etc.
November 8, 2011 11:28 pm at 11:28 pm #982462MiddlePathParticipantalways here, yup. Glad someone caught them. Also- Sad but true, Am I evil, and justice for all are references as well.
November 9, 2011 3:13 pm at 3:13 pm #982463BTGuyParticipantHi MiddlePath. The Black Album? Wasn’t that Spinal Tap (the Tap)?
November 9, 2011 5:21 pm at 5:21 pm #982464☕️coffee addictParticipantAll I know is that beetles are treif but they make something called carnuba wax from beetle secretion and its kosher
November 9, 2011 5:33 pm at 5:33 pm #982465MiddlePathParticipantBTGuy, you’re right that Spinal Tap had an album that the cover was all black, because the original cover of that album caused quite an outrage. But I don’t think it was referred to as “the Black album”.
November 9, 2011 5:53 pm at 5:53 pm #982466JotharMemberSpinal Tap’s Black Album was fiction, as was Nigel Tufnel’s special amp which was so loud it could be cranked to 11, and the drummer that spontaneously combusted during the performance. Metallica’s eponymous Black Album was fact.
The Rutles were a legend that will last a lunchtime. All you need is cash!
