On Youtube, the song “A Little Bird is Calling” has these notes.
“This song was written in 1947 by Malka Steinberg Saks at Camp Bais Yaakov”.
Was this the Malka Saks a”h who was married to R’ Boruch Saks (Yeshiva of Staten Island)? Was she a maiden Steinberg? Anyone knows?
Also, I heard a decently funny version of this song, with a bird hit by a truck and a homeless guy, and a turkey. I don’t think I know all the words though.
Dunno the answer to your questions but I always loved that song and wondered where it is from. Does anybody know if any CDs are available today with that song?

The one on Youtube referred to in the OP has no Kol Isha and I believe is not copyrighted. Maybe just record it from there? It’s titled “The little bird is calling.wmv”

This song was written in 1947
by Malka Steinberg Saks at
Camp Bais Yaakov.
It was right after the end of
World War 2 and one year
before the establishment of the
State of Israel.
Camp Gan Israel was not yet in
existence at that time.
Sherwood Goffen recorded it at
least 5 years before the Tzlil
V’Zemer Boys Choir did. I was
born in 1942 and know this for
a fact. You were probably not
yet born when this song was
written. Malka is living in Paris,
France now and is 78 years old.
She was 15 and a junior
counselor at the camp when
she wrote the song.

The Little Froggie is calling…
I loved this song as a child, and wrote a short camp play for my campers to perform when I worked at Camp HASC some 40+ years ago. That song was the finale of the play, which centered on Yetzias Mitzrayim and the zechus of the birds then and in the Midbar. I know it sounds a little ambitious in subject matter, but my girls did a fantastic job!

Malka Saks a”h who was married to R’ Boruch Saks was only about five years old in 1947 when the song was written
If you google the name “Malka Saks” you’ll get an article that she was nifteres about 7 months ago and that she was the wife of Rav Moshe Saks, a dayan in Yerushalyim. The lyrics of the song arein the article too

The song says befaeirsh that the little bird is wounded and can fly. Vultures do attack wounded animals . And it’s only turkey vultures that do not usually attack live prey. Black vultures attack live animals too
