Over Yom Tov, Ittisa & I took some of our children to one of the local playgrounds (not our usual). While there, there was one child (frum) who came in after we did, and started pushing around (not purposefully) other children (including mine) (such as climbing on top of them to get to the slide first, sliding down into other children, etc.). The parents of this child were shmoozing (and I did not know who the actual parents were) and did not notice what their child was doing.
What would you do in such a scenario?
Speak to the child making the problem and advise him to stop.
Tell them immediately this is unacceptable in a calm manner say excuse me but you may not have noticed but your little berel is hurting the other children can you please tell him to stop thank you
Leave the park, one should avoid machlokes at all costs.
I guess that by now your children are no longer in the playground. However in the future you can use this scenario as a lesson for your children how NOT to behave.
I have been in this situation before, and I just stand up and boldly walk over to the rough kid and like a teacher would say very authoritativly state “You need to stop it. You may not hit little kids”. If I see it again I will tell your mother.
Do what I did, when I had a kid that was in need of some “surrogate parenting”.
But let me ask you this: How menacing a voice can you muster? My technique only works if you can sound really intimidating.
