the maaseh with the bochurim in japan left no excuse for anyone to fall for this garbage anymore. i feel absolutely no sympathy for the recent arrestees…how could they not have known?! and why are so many people still doing it…what is it…2 arrests in 2 weeks now?!
October 10, 2011 4:00 pm at 4:00 pm #816133Mayan_DvashParticipant…because a 17yo Yeshiva Boy who has been sheltered all his life doesn’t know.
October 10, 2011 4:00 pm at 4:00 pm #816134popa_bar_abbaParticipantThis is different. This was in Germany.
I don’t feel any obligation to follow German law on anything.
October 10, 2011 4:10 pm at 4:10 pm #816135bezalelParticipantWhy not? The message we’re sending out is that if one of our own gets in trouble we will do whatever is possible to free them.

October 10, 2011 4:55 pm at 4:55 pm #816137soliekMemberwell there was one guy arrested in israel last week or something and now this arrest in germany. the bochurim in japan had a legitimate excuse because the matter wasnt so widely publicized. but they were the watershed on this matter…EVERYONE knew about it what with the pidyon shvuyim campaigns and whatnot…how can there be anexcuse “oh i didnt know” thats still valid?!
October 10, 2011 8:35 pm at 8:35 pm #816138bein_hasdorimParticipantsoliek; I sorta agree, we don’t condone this behavior, however we must know for a fact the circumstances surrounding the arrests.
If someone was clearly aware of the situation, and agreed to go ahead and put himself in big possibility that he could create a huge Chilul Hshm, B’RABIM, I don’t know what to say, does the mitzvah of pidyon Shvu’im apply? maybe.
October 10, 2011 10:01 pm at 10:01 pm #816139squeakParticipantpopa, I disagree. You may choose not to follow German law by.staying the blazes away from that country. I’d even recommend that. But once you’re there you can’t opt out. Just like when you visited my house you had to take off your shoes even though you didn’t want me to see the holes in your socks.
October 10, 2011 10:10 pm at 10:10 pm #816140amusedParticipantHow’d ya know about those holes he has in the socks?
October 10, 2011 10:45 pm at 10:45 pm #816141soliekMemberwell im not suggesting that they actually knew what they were smuggling. however as far as im concerned there is no excuse for not opening a suitcase you were paid a fortune to transport. so while these recent peopel may not have actually seen drugs, they should have suspected it or at least not been dumb enough to transport a suitcase without looking inside it. besides…dont you get asked at virtually every airport if you packed your bags?!

First, let me congratulate you on your uncanny joseph-like memory.
Second, the difference is that you didn’t try to exterminate me.
