For many years, I’ve always spent a lot of money to get a set that is truly mehudar. I spared no expense. It’s just something I accepted on myself years ago to do, and I’ve been doing it ever since.
This year, I wasn’t sure about it. We recently bought a house, and I mentioned here about some health issues I had recently, which caused us to get some bills as well. Money is tight, and I thought that for the first time in years, I’d have to get a cheaper set.
I spoke to my Rav about it, and asked him what he thought. He told me that if I did it every year, I should plan to do it again this year, and that Hashem would send me the money for it. I thanked him, and told my usual supplier to look out for the extra-mehudar sets for me, as usual.
Within a week after this, I had a few things happen to me, which caused me to get a few thousand dollars that I hadn’t expected. Hashem clearly sent me the money for this, and earlier today, I bought my mehudar set.
Thank you Hashem!

It might have been in the zchus of the advice column that you ran here, that you got such great advice yourself…(now don’t fall behind on that!)
You are very inspiring to all of us

MODS you should rename this thread – Listen to your Rav and Hashem will look after you

October 10, 2011 12:56 pm at 12:56 pm #898313soliekMemberpersonally i just wait until after sukkos and buy esrogim 5 for a dollar…wave them about a bit…????…PROFIT!!!
October 10, 2011 1:46 pm at 1:46 pm #898314Feif UnParticipantsqueak: No, I don’t spend a few thousand dollars on my set. My price is only 3 digits, not 4. The rest of the money will likely go towards a new sukkah!

October 10, 2011 3:18 pm at 3:18 pm #898318Feif UnParticipantIt’s not a Jewish site, it’s connected to my profession. It’s a pretty good Outpost for information.

As it came to you with a special love from HB”H.

“am yisrael chai: I didn’t fall behind on my advice column, there were no more questions being asked!”
Then you need to employ a new marketing strategy… perhaps advertise that currently it’s a FREE service???
September 30, 2012 3:02 am at 3:02 am #898321Feif UnParticipantOnce again, this year, I wasn’t sure that I’d be able to afford a nice set, as money is once again very tight. I did call my supplier and once again told him to look out for the nicest sets for me.
On Tzom Gedaliah, Hashem once again helped me out, and sent me a few hundred dollars that I hadn’t been expecting. Once again, I have a beautiful, mehudar set of arba minim for Sukkos!
October 3, 2012 3:05 am at 3:05 am #898322WiseyParticipantWhat I don’t understand is why people spend gazillions on an esrog but don’t mind if after a few days their aravos look like they’ve gone through arbah misos beis din. I know the pasuk says “pri eitz hadar” but why should one of the minim be so much more important than another.
October 3, 2012 3:24 am at 3:24 am #898323popa_bar_abbaParticipantI’m already on my second set of aravos.
We cut them from our neighbor’s bush. They don’t care; they don’t even live here anymore.

“They don’t care; they don’t even live here anymore.”
Well if they do care then you were using aravos gezuloh. The entire set has to be Lachem.
October 3, 2012 4:16 am at 4:16 am #898325Sam2ParticipantWIY: Only on the first day. Other days it’s a Mitzvah Haba’ah Ba’aveirah.
October 3, 2012 4:51 am at 4:51 am #898326YW Moderator-42ModeratorIs using withered aravos a segula for the Arabs to wither?
October 3, 2012 5:12 am at 5:12 am #898327WIYMember42
Ah so thats why we klap Aravos on Hoshana Rabbah!
October 3, 2012 5:33 am at 5:33 am #898328popa_bar_abbaParticipantWe have permission. I said they don’t mind.
