There is a case of a Jew in captivity which is terrible – that of Gilad Schalit, who is imprisoned for the “crime” of protecting the Jewish People, and who faces an unknown fate.

    EDITED

Please, we are not here to compare who needs our help more or less than others. There are tens of thousands of Yidden that need the help of Klal Yisroel. Most are not famous. Every Yid will decide for himself where he wishes to put his efforts. Make your case for who you wish, but please do not make this an issue of frum vs. not-frum.

There are shuls which have been saying Tehillim for Gilad Shalit for years now, including Rabbi Reisman’s.

    Every day.

    Completing all 150.

    And beginning again.

As a matter of fact Noam Shalit – Gilad’s father – who is a staunch leftist is freaquantly visiting many gdolim because the frum are the most vocal about advancing this cause.

ayc, which Rabbi Reisman? I’m assuming you’re speaking of the one in Brooklyn cuz I don’t think the one in Far Rockaway is as well known but I definitely could be wrong about that!

You are correct, happiest. The rav of a very frum Aguda shul in Brooklyn.

I mentioned this fact that R Reisman instituted daily Tehillim because the tone of the OP seemed to be that frum people don’t care as much about the non-frum ch”v.

And R Reisman is quite frum…

I would imagine the OP is projecting his own prior issues between the two lifestyles into the CR, although this alleged discrimination is non-existent in this situation as illustrated above.

It might be more beneficial and healing for the OP to tackle the source of his prior issues.

Does Rav Reisman’s shul say tehillim only for Schalit, or for ALL those needing pidyon shvuyim? (i.e. Rubashkin, Pollard, and other jailed yidden.) I would assume they are saying it for them all.

I know that the rav is into not being matriach the tzibbur, so I understood it as one name and one kapitel daily, having the others in mind, but I may be wrong.

I see, ayc. Somehow I thought your info re: R. Reisman was firsthand. Why would they exclude Rubashkin, Pollard and others? It would seem to make more sense that they are including those too at least equally.

Actually, it IS that shul’s practice, but I have no other explanation other than the idea of tircha and the idea to start out small.

You may wish to consider contacting the rav directly for your very reasonable question.
