Does anyone here have adult Asperger’s or a family member or friend with it? How is it treated and what symptoms are experienced? How long has it been an issue?

OP is a doctor.
From reading some medical literature, it appears that it is treated with therapy training the patient on proper social etiquette.
This was only added as a listed condition about 17 years ago, and there still remains many many people who have it but remain undiagnosed.
Why do you assume that someone with Asperger’s requires treatment? People with Asperger’s usually function well and many are high achievers, albeit socially inept. Back before every personality trait became a named disease or syndrome, they just called us nerds.
Unfortunately, some who need treatment deny it, causing tremendous hardship for their spouses, children, family and friends (if they have friends) without them recognizing the damage they are causing. Their social ineptness hurts others who can’t understand their apparent aloofness, social ineptness and disinterest. It is only apparent, since they do take interest yet don’t let others know.
If Aspies function well and are high achievers and it is primarily a socializing issue, why is it grouped in the autism spectrum?
Aspies often have extreme OCD tendencies
OCD isn’t a characteristic of Aspergers, although some may suffer from that too. In any event, I think that would be something you would see more with a child than adult.
