Dear Bochurim and Kollel yungeleit,
Welcome back we at your Yeshiva office hope you had a restful summer break please know that while you were off most of us were still in the Yeshiva hard at work preparing for your return.
Here is list of do’s and don’ts to keep in mind when working with your Yeshiva staff.
DO
Come in if there is anything we can help you with
Come in just to say hello to us we are always glad to speak with you
When making a request please preface your request with the following hello mr/mrs/rabbi so and so how are you? we like to feel like we are human beings and not pieces of office furniture
DO NOT
speak on your cell phone in the office this is a place of business and it is hard to answer phones with a cell phone talker loudly speaking in your vicinity.
gather here if you are bored this is not a chabura or a lounge.
make an optical scan of everything in the room looking at things on peoples desk is an invasion of privacy and some things are not for public consumption.
do not pace in the reception area this is very distracting
I hope these tips have been helpful and once again welcome back!
August 16, 2012 7:11 pm at 7:11 pm #971071TheGoqParticipantIt’s that time again.
August 16, 2012 8:20 pm at 8:20 pm #971072🍫Syag LchochmaParticipant*sniff sniff* My son goes back tonight and I’m sending a son OOT (to NY) for the first time **WAIL**
August 16, 2012 9:05 pm at 9:05 pm #971073SayIDidIt™ParticipantGoq™, so you work in a Yeshiva office? When seeking help, do the guys address you as Rabbi Goq™?!
Gotto find this Yehiva so we can meet!!

August 16, 2012 10:39 pm at 10:39 pm #971074🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantPSST SiDi-I’m already on it. I have enrolled a son in every yeshiva in NY and when I go in to get the admit cards I will say “Thank you Reb Goq” at each office to see what happens. I’ll keep you posted.
August 16, 2012 11:08 pm at 11:08 pm #971075TheGoqParticipantSorry friends i am not ordained just Mr. Goq will do.
August 16, 2012 11:33 pm at 11:33 pm #971076popa_bar_abbaParticipantHow about ordering huge computers and printers and boxes of diapers and coins from the mint to the office? Is that a good idea?
August 17, 2012 1:00 am at 1:00 am #971077TheGoqParticipantWell popa we get diapers like every single day the ups lady complains about all the packages, a couple weeks ago she brought us a multi pack of paper towels i mean for real who orders paper towels online!?
August 17, 2012 2:43 am at 2:43 am #971078CuriosityParticipantDr. Goq has a much better ring to it…
August 17, 2012 1:46 pm at 1:46 pm #971079TheGoqParticipantDoc Goq? yeah that works, or you can call me ModGoq.
August 19, 2012 2:00 am at 2:00 am #971080popa_bar_abbaParticipantIt is pretty ridiculous for the UPS lady to complain about having to deliver packages…
August 19, 2012 4:49 pm at 4:49 pm #971081TheGoqParticipantShe complains alot but then again she is short.
August 19, 2012 10:12 pm at 10:12 pm #971082haifagirlParticipantI don’t think anyone was happier to see the beginning of the zman than I was.
When I would be on my way home from work, it was very disheartening to get on a bus at 10:30 p.m. when it was packed with everybody who had to come to Haifa bein hazmanim. And even when the bus wasn’t packed, I was still unable to sit because children were sitting in all the seats. I guess in Yeshiva they don’t teach parents to teach their children to give up a seat to an adult.
Now it’s Elul, and tonight I got to sit down.
August 26, 2012 5:45 am at 5:45 am #971083YW Moderator-42ModeratorHaifagirl, I thought you’re not an adult yet.
August 26, 2012 5:48 am at 5:48 am #971084YW Moderator-42Moderator“Who orders paper towels online?”
People order pretty much everything under the sun online. With Amazon Prime free shipping, why not? Especially in NY where there is no parking why would you want to buy things in person?
August 26, 2012 9:04 pm at 9:04 pm #971085SayIDidIt™Participantwhy do people order things to Yeshiva offices in the first place?
SiDi™
August 28, 2012 5:29 am at 5:29 am #971086YW Moderator-42ModeratorSiDi, because receiving packages in an apartment building (or even a house) when you aren’t home can be tricky. In yeshiva someone is there to sign for you and the packages are somewhat safe (though I have heard of thefts from yeshiva mail piles)
August 28, 2012 3:34 pm at 3:34 pm #971087🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantMr/Mrs/Rabbi Goq – Okay, I am packing my son up and I told him to come to you if he needs help with his laundry, not to order diapers, to call you when he wants to talk and not to leave beer cans in the office lounge. Is that everything?
August 28, 2012 11:55 pm at 11:55 pm #971088SayIDidIt™ParticipantWhat about asking to use rhe office PC to post on the CR??
SiDi™
August 29, 2012 6:25 am at 6:25 am #971089🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantI’m guessing the internet isn’t working in there cuz Goq hasn’t posted all day!
August 29, 2012 7:54 pm at 7:54 pm #971090TheGoqParticipantLol Syag here i am! boy you have such a nice well mannered son you should be very proud!
August 29, 2012 8:04 pm at 8:04 pm #971091SayIDidIt™Participantthen how do they do all those important things every office does? And if the computers break down, I hope them have a pack of cards to do there work manually!
SiDi™
August 19, 2013 12:36 am at 12:36 am #971092YW Moderator-42ModeratorSome yeshivas started last week on Rosh Chodesh. Others start this week when camp ends. Either way, Welcome back bochurim. Learn well, be courteous to the office staff, and don’t post on the CR during seder.
