    So, my family is hopefully having a non-religous girl over for Shabbos dinner and she’s in the Finance world. I noticed Coffee Addict on the wish me luck thread said something about having a job interview with Chase or Citi about working there so I figured you might know some stuff that we could talk about to make her feel comfortable.

    Any ideas, anyone???

    I don’t know unless you want to talk about current events (politics) I know people don’t like talking about politics at the shabbos table though,

    I’m flattered that you thought of me specifically

    Ask her details about her work, what she does, ask her to explain aspects you don’t understand, try to bring in some of your own life experiences and mix it into the discussion. I have personally found with kiruv that just having a ‘normal’ conversation can be very effective. At the same time though, if she is interested in knowledge and the like, you could discuss torah and mitzvos with their background along with what they mean.

    Unfortunately happiest she didn’t come this week, she got sick but hopefully she’s going to come another time. I’ll let you know how it goes. Daven it works out!!!!!!

    Yossi Z. – ya, she’s not interested in Judaism at all (or she might be, it’s kinda complicated) so we just wanted to talk about stuff that she could relate to and see that you can still be ‘normal’ and frum, if that makes sense.

    That definitely makes sense.

    And you’re definitely on the right track by building a positive relationship FIRST before actual possible kiruv. Kiruv professionals endorse this style themselves.

    Hey everyone who asked…so we had her for Shabbos and it sounds like she really enjoyed it!!!!!!! Let’s hope she doesn’t feel the need to go to India anymore to search for spirituality!
