    You burn some paper and you have ash to dip into.

    Burn some paper or tissue. It doesn’t have to come from anything specific.

    I would avoid burning lined paper because the ink is probably toxic.

    Please be very careful whatever you do burn and burn it over a sink into a glass or aluminum bowl/pan.

    I burn a peice of towel paper in an eluminum foil and I make sure to cover the foil (with some tiny holes) so that the ash is not flying all over the place.

    Um…we thought of something edible. We toast some bread to a crips (i.e. burn the life out of it) and grate it into ash.
