Between 12th Avenue and 44th Street and 18th Avenue and 44th Street, there were THOUSANDS of people who Leiby could have asked directions from, and stores he could have gone into asking for help, who would have helped him return safely.
For sure, no other person he would have asked would have brought about the results that occured.
BUT, this was meant to be the end result, so Hashem made Levi A, the insane criminal, with obviously sick ideas on what to do with a lost child, be exactly at that spot where Leiby was and Leiby decided to ask EXACTLY THIS individual for help.
Mind boggling.
Baruch Dayan Emes.

July 14, 2011 11:11 pm at 11:11 pm #786268Derech HaMelechMemberThis is what I told my mother.
July 15, 2011 12:16 am at 12:16 am #786269☕️coffee addictParticipantTrue but crazy now the question is why?
July 15, 2011 1:22 am at 1:22 am #786270TweetTweetParticipantDefinitely true–obviously this was no coincidence. While we could ask why, we’ll never know–that’s emunah.
July 15, 2011 3:09 am at 3:09 am #786271☕️coffee addictParticipantidk abt that tweet are you saying we shouldn’t do anything to help that this situation doesn’t occur from lectures about teaching our kids not to be so trusting all the way to looking inside ourselves and the community as a whole
July 15, 2011 6:07 am at 6:07 am #786272Aishes ChayilParticipantMigalgilin Zechus al yedei ZAKAI Vichovo al yedei CHAYOV!
Sadly this horrendous tragedy was bashert for this child, but Hashem always chooses the suitable shliach. Obvioulsy there was a reason that Aron was sent to carry out this terrible deed, as opposed to anyone else!
July 15, 2011 6:21 am at 6:21 am #786273TweetTweetParticipantCoffee, I didn’t mean that we shouldn’t take any lessons out of this horrible tragedy. Of course we need to all look deeply into ourselves for ways to improve and we need to teach our kids how to keep safe. All I meant is that we will never understand why Hashem chose this pure neshoma of a 9 year old as a korban.
July 15, 2011 6:25 am at 6:25 am #786274real-briskerMemberWell, did he really ask for directions…?
July 15, 2011 1:34 pm at 1:34 pm #786275Torah4LifeMemberThis is just part of the yad Hashem involved in the story. Rav Eisenberger was saying that since this tragedy was shelo al pi derech hateva, the yad Hashem was more intricately involved, because it’s like a neis.
This tragedy has sent a shock wave throughout klal yisroel. I don’t even live in NY, but I am traumatized by this. As a father of little children, I can’t even begin to imagine the pain R’ Nachman and his rebbetzin are going through. It’s yadua that anyone who feels any pain from a tragedy, it’s because HKB”H wants him to get a message. Rabbosai, let’s take the message and improve our ways.
July 15, 2011 2:21 pm at 2:21 pm #786276☕️coffee addictParticipantOh so I see your why is different from mine
July 15, 2011 2:43 pm at 2:43 pm #786277adorableParticipantI dont think the point of the whole story was that Hashem wanted us to tell our children not to talk to strangers. It just seems like thats missing the point. I think Hashem wants us to do teshuva. That does not mean that parents should not use this as a spring-board to teach children a lesson but is that the reason why this came about and is that all Hashem wants you to learn?
July 15, 2011 2:54 pm at 2:54 pm #786278bombmaniacParticipantmayeb hashem wanted to give yeshivaworld more traffic…why doesnt everyone just leave their opinions out of it…you just take from this whatever you want to take from it…leave hashem’s cheshbon to hashem.
July 15, 2011 4:44 pm at 4:44 pm #786279☕️coffee addictParticipanthow do you know adorable?
maybe Hashem is saying wake up you’re in galus act like it!
July 15, 2011 4:53 pm at 4:53 pm #786280adorableParticipantI dont know from myself but i just cant imagine that all Hashem wants us to take out of this is that we have to be safer
July 15, 2011 6:11 pm at 6:11 pm #786281real-briskerMemberca – That wouldn’t make sense. Why should someone have to get hurt to teach you to be careful not to get hurt?
July 17, 2011 4:15 am at 4:15 am #786284☕️coffee addictParticipantadorable & brisker,
I’m not saying we have to be safer I’m saying we should wake up that we’re in galus
we have a hard time seeing that in this medina
July 17, 2011 7:05 am at 7:05 am #786285MindOverChatterParticipantI listened to Rav Fischel Shechter shlit”a discussing this issue (on the chazak hotline). He pointed out that the mere fact that everything was so “incidental” and happened the exact moment it was supposed to happen, goes to show that Hashem is the One Who’s running the show. And once we know that, we feel secure. Although we don’t understand WHY He did it, we know that Hashem’s our Father and does everything for our good. And since it’s so evident that He’s the One Who did it all we can rest assured that it’s for our good only.
July 17, 2011 1:05 pm at 1:05 pm #786286real-briskerMemberca – That is not the lesson to take out of this.
