July 8, 2011 9:53 pm at 9:53 pm #784322deiyezoogerMemberEating dosn’t take away your cocentration the way talking/texting does. Its not because your hands are occopied its your brain, thats way a bluetooth (aldough legal) is not the solution.

What neighbourhood do you live in? I want to avoid it!Eating is fine if you are careful. Talking on a phone takes your mind off the road. Texting takes your eyes off the road aswell. And seriously, sneezing is highly dangerous while driving. If you have a cold or suffer from the pollen you will know that an unexpected sneeze will make you close your eyes and lose concentration for a good few seconds. May Hashem protect us all.

I agree that the law should be against all forms of distracted driving. The reason this isn’t enforced is because it’s much easier to convict for something more concrete.

But I seem to notice that all to often it’s the innocent people that get “caught.” It’s hard to prove to a judge that the officer didn’t see what he claimed to see…
July 11, 2011 1:35 am at 1:35 am #784329amichaiParticipantseen pple reading the paper, makeup. eating isn’t as bad as texting. you can keep both hands on the wheel and munch. why don’t pple just pull over to the side for 15 min. and relax?
July 11, 2011 3:13 pm at 3:13 pm #784330adorableParticipantI noticed recently that while I was eating (I think it was ice cream) my eyes were not on the road the whole time yet with texting it became a law and eating its not!
July 11, 2011 4:22 pm at 4:22 pm #784331MiddlePathParticipantIt could be because texting takes your focus off of driving almost completely. Eating, on the other hand, though it may cause you to look at your food every now and then, does not require the same focus and concentration as texting.
