I want to get my B.A. in one year. Is Bulka a good seminary? What are the girls like… Also if I start taking online courses from Thomas Edison or ocean county college now, will Rebitzen Bulka accept the credits? Thank You!

June 12, 2011 2:53 pm at 2:53 pm #922064optimusprimeMemberI think they may also accept credits from Hogsmeade Community College

June 13, 2011 2:09 pm at 2:09 pm #922066gavra_at_workParticipantHermione:
Depends on what you want to do with your life. Reb. Bulka will not help you to be a witch, nor will it help with many other careers. I know someone who went OT/PT/SPEECH/Special ed. with it, if that is how you want to go.
Using a spell would be much quicker.

Did you get promoted? I have noticed you went from “occasional moderator” to “24/6” ?
June 13, 2011 6:23 pm at 6:23 pm #922072minyan galMemberoptimus: good catch on the Mod’s new subtitle.
Mod. 42, I hope that you got a suitable raise to go along with the fancy, new title (or subtitle). Yasher koach and may you be as successful in all of your endeavours. Keep watching for your bouquet of flowers – virtual ones – in honor of this auspicious occasion. (of course, I have absolutely no idea how to send virtual flowers, but it is the thought that counts).
June 14, 2011 1:03 am at 1:03 am #922073pascha bchochmaParticipantIt’s a decent college program, but very intense. Rebbetzin Bulka is an amazing person.
June 14, 2011 2:58 am at 2:58 am #922074YW Moderator-42ModeratorThank you minyan gal.
Pascha bchachmaa, why would you ruin a perfectly good thread by posting on topic?
June 14, 2011 9:41 am at 9:41 am #922075pascha bchochmaParticipantHmmm I just can’t imagine why 🙂
June 15, 2011 4:54 pm at 4:54 pm #922076i love coffeParticipantI heard this seminary is very intense but you can get your degree very quickly. It is more of a college rather than a seminary but they do have a hebrew part of the day and its a good choice if you really put yourself to work hard and want to get over the college years quickly and get a 4 year degree into 2 years!
June 15, 2011 4:56 pm at 4:56 pm #922077i love coffeParticipantDoes anyone know if they have a dorm?
June 15, 2011 8:01 pm at 8:01 pm #922078minyan galMemberI really am curious how you can get any kind of a 4 year degree in 2 years. Are these degrees recognized by any universities for post graduate study? Somehow, I wouldn’t like to be cared for by a doctor who completed a 4 year program in 2 (even if it were just pre-med studies). I know that a lot of frum women go into careers such as social work and occupational therapy – both of which are 4 year programs at any university that I know of. It is pretty much impossible to learn all that is required for either of these programs in 2 years. Even if you are just talking about a BA, I can’t see how it can be done, or done properly, in half the time.
June 16, 2011 1:48 am at 1:48 am #922079A23ParticipantOne can go to Brooklyn College and get a real B.S. or Bachelor of Business Administration in two jam-packed years. From the website of Professor Friedman (who is a really nice yid):
Year 1
Summer I or II Semester: Take 6 credits
Fall Semester: Take 18 credits
Winter Intersession: Take 7 credits
Spring Semester: Take 18 credits
Summer Session I: Take 7 credits
Summer Session II: Take 7 credits
Year 2
Fall Semester: Take 18 credits
Winter Intersession: Take 7 credits
Spring Semester: Take 18 credits
Summer Session I: Take 7 credits
Summer Session II: Take 7 credits
Technically, if you have a decent GPA, you will be able to take up to 21 credits during fall and spring instead of 18, so you may be able to distribute the load a bit differently.
June 16, 2011 3:03 pm at 3:03 pm #922080minyan galMemberThanks for the information. This is actually full time, year round study as opposed to the regular “college year”. A person would definitely have to be very committed and very focused to achieve this 2 year degree. One would definitely have to kiss any social life a fond goodbye as well as doing the same for any volunteer activities. Of course, for many it is well worth the effort involved.
January 22, 2013 2:39 am at 2:39 am #922081commonsenseParticipantdoes anyone have any more info? anyone know how much it costs?
January 22, 2013 3:20 am at 3:20 am #922082Torah613TorahParticipantI know it’s expensive, but unlike Hogwarts, there’s no fund for scholarships for people who can’t afford tuition or books. Also, there’s no dormitories.
January 22, 2013 3:37 am at 3:37 am #922083little missMemberThe cheapest way to do it is to go through a RIJS (rechtschaffen istitute of judaic studies) where there are no live or recorded classes (except two or three), so it’s all self study, but every 3 credits is only $200. There is only a few degrees you can get from them, but it’s worth a try. rechtijs.org (or .com?)
January 22, 2013 6:42 am at 6:42 am #922084ThePurpleOneMemberwhats the difference bet touro, sarah schenirer, and bulka? arent they all jewish frum girls? i know touro graduate ot skool has mostly jewish and mostly frum but a few yeshiva guys..
January 22, 2013 7:00 pm at 7:00 pm #922085ShiraTobalaMemberDont go to seminary for a college degree. Go to a not jewish college for a college degree. Even the so called jewish college in New York makes the girls go off the Derech. I know people who went to a not jewish college and jewish college and the girls turned out worse at the Jewish college. But, the girls at the not jewish college stayed the same.
January 22, 2013 9:01 pm at 9:01 pm #9220861st timerParticipantSupposedly, you get your BA in 1 year. I know a few people that are in the program now & a few that already finished with degrees in nursing & (I think) speech. I know a guy that also finished with a degree in social work. I think its intense and costly, but sounds worth it.
January 22, 2013 9:26 pm at 9:26 pm #922087yaakov doeParticipantI know that the masters in Social Work is a real program through LIU. I think the Rebitzen Bulka programs are harder than TTI. Many of the BA credits are from yeshiva seminary courses plus a year in her program to get the degree.
