Thursday Evening News Briefs from EY


Two major fires were reported out of control during the afternoon hours in the Jezreel Valley area.

**Firemen in Yerushalayim during the afternoon hours battled fired in thorny areas in the Armon HaNatziv district. The fires threatened area electric poles.

**5 Beit Shean and Afula fire units battled a forest fire in that area on Thursday afternoon.

**Six fire teams accompanied by aerial support fought brush fires in the Carmiel district on Thursday afternoon.

**A 1-y/o sustained serious injuries, falling down stairs in Abu Ghosh. 

**The Gamle area blaze which began in the S. Golan Heights on Thursday morning is still burning out of control as of 6pm. Thousands of dunams of forestry land were destroyed.

**As the navy and other forces prepare to head off the self-proclaimed humanitarian flotilla heading to Gaza, IDF officials are alert to the possibility that terrorists may be on board some of the boats.

**MK Ben-Ari decried the arrests of Itamar Ben-Givir and Baruch Marzel for calling Rahm Emanuel an “anti-Semite”, explaining freedom of expression is only grounds for arrest when one speaks out against the left.

  1. Years ago, durng the times when the USSR was at its worst, it was said that both the US and the USSR had freedom of speech. the difference was whether there was freedom after speech.
    Seems familiar!
