I need some ideas where to go on a date in or near Lakewood (1st, 2nd dates…), no lounges please!
try the mini golf place (swingtime) down the 9. Or one of the bowling places -do Howell lanes if you don’t want to be seen. Take a boat onto lakewood lake or Lake Shenadoa.
DO NOT go on a first date on lakewood lake!! you will get seen by EVERYONE!!

Well, it is nice. But I’d sure like to see someone go there on a date.
For a restaurant- go to Deal.
You could go to Point Pleasant to the Aquarium (Jenkinsons). I’ve seen a date at Allaire Park once. Really Lakewood ain’t a good place for dates. The nearest decent lounge is in Princeton.

Or for something more causal, you could go to the new amusment park / arcade, “Crazy House”.
I’ve heard this mentioned that a few times, so you might give this place a try. (wear confortable shoe, though)

That is if you are having a miserable date and want to drop the girl in a hurry.
In my days it was so bad I had mushrooms growing from the ceiling. I had maintenance remove the carpet which left the concrete slab exposed. It looked like a garage. Thank G-d I wasn’t “parked” there too long.
All seriousness aside, the boardwalk is always nice, so long as it’s not a weekend.
Take in a Blue Claws game.
Or you could browse the freezer section, to see what’s on sale 🙂
depending on how long you want to drive, but if you’re willing, there are very nice private/quiet parks in staten island.
starbuck.or upstairs from wegmans on route 9 in manalapan has a place to sit upstairs.point pleasant or sea side heights.
you also have Blackbeards Cave thats about half an hour away has minature golf arcades etc

Like any dorm, it’s how you keep it. Generalizations are never accurate. Anybody can keep their room neat as a pin, if they want to.
And like the other dorms are nicer?!?

I disagree. If, for example, the carpet was old and the paint was peeling, it’s gross no matter how neat you keep the room. I was never inside the Irv so I can’t say if that’s the case there but when someone tells me it’s gross, this is the kind of thing I think of. I was never in any yeshiva dorm so I can’t compare (although I was in a dira).

Nothing is on sale- looking for a sale in the freezer section amounts to finding the second best bochur in Lakewood. It doesn’t exist.

The Irv happens to me a very nice dorm, compared to others. A few years ago, they renovated and now all the rooms have central AC and some have carpet. Plus there is a cleaning crew which cleans the bathrooms every day and vaccums the carpet rooms.
Bpt, can you just picture it? He brings the girl home and her mother asks the usual – “did you have a nice time?” “Sure, Ma, I can help you with the grocery shopping now. I learned how to check expiration dates. And by the way, chickens are on sale.”
