    The Statue of Liberty, on the one hand she wears a hair covering (crown)and a full length robe that goes well below the knees, on the other hand the sleeve on the torch hand has slid all the way down past the elbow and she wears open toe sandals, but you never see her sitting in a uncompromising way. What do we make of this dichotomy?

    Her Midos are unquestioned most notably her hachnachos orchim welcoming so many guests over the years (the huddled masses)

    and we have to understand she comes from Europe and things are a bit freer over there

    please be aware this post was crafted well past my bedtime during a sleepless night.

    Lol Goq! You forgot to mention her green color, definitely very Untznius. Black would be a lot more appropriate.

    You have to admit that she is attracting way too much attention to herself, standing 151 feet tall in the middle of a busy harbor like that. She could have at least ducked behind a tree or skyscraper or something.

    As an aside, in the base of the Statue of Liberty is a museum which contains a large menorah with 9 Lady Liberties holding their torches.

    If you look closely at the book she is holding it says bais yaakov lchu vinailchuh. Amazing.

    btw, that very moving poem you refer to (the huddled masses) was composed by a Sfardic Jewish woman (I believe of Iraqi descent) who was up till that time unheard of. It was submitted in a contest. She won against the famous poets of her time(I believe Jack Frost may have been one of them if my memory serves me correctly). I can’t access google-anyone know what the full poem is?
