I don’t know, but if you’re trying to make a point, perhaps you can provide more details. Are you talking about a specific geographic location? A specific hashkafah? A specific age level? Are you talking about right now or do you mean September/Elul?
And, lastly, if there is such a problem, perhaps you’d like to elaborate why there are so many (if there are) bochrim not enrolled for next year.

May 18, 2011 5:15 pm at 5:15 pm #768075a maminParticipantYes, A relative of mine has not yet been accepted in a yeshiva this zman. 15 year old in Broooklyn. No major problems, an average boy with regular learning capabilities.I think it’s outrageous!! I hear there are askanim working on it and they tell the parents there are hundreds of Bucherim in Brooklyn without a yeshiva this zman??? I wanted to know if that could possibly be true???

Is he going into ninth grade? Tenth? Elventh?
How many places has he applied to?
Have any of the places given him any feedback as to why he was rejected?
The Wolf
May 18, 2011 6:24 pm at 6:24 pm #768077apushatayidParticipantIt could possibly be true, although let me give you the other side.
I know a 16 year old brooklyn boy who is not in yeshiva this zman (in fact, not since elul zman), askanim were and still are working diligently to open doors for him, and have gotten him a farher in at least 3 different yeshivos. Yet, he is still not in yeshiva. This boy doesn’t want to be in yeshiva. Once his parents came to that realization, they worked with the appropriate people and arranged for someone to learn with him 90 minutes every morning. They hired a tutor to prepare him so that he can take and pass the test to earn his GED and he works locally for 4-5 hours a day.
It is not always the fault of the yeshiva that someone is not enrolled in yeshiva. Perhaps this relative of yours is going through the motions of taking farhers to make his parents happy, but is sabotaging himself purposely at the same time so that he wont be accepted.
May 18, 2011 8:10 pm at 8:10 pm #768078happiestMemberapushatayid, that is very very commendable of those parents!! Just saying.
They saw how the yeshiva atmosphere was not the right one for their child and decided to let him make something of himself rather. Very very impressive!!
May 18, 2011 9:29 pm at 9:29 pm #768079a maminParticipantThe bucher is chasidish and wants to go to Yeshiva. He is terribly embarrased, doesnt daven in shule because he doesnt want to be asked ” Which Yeshiva are you in? He had one Faher and was told he is accepted in that Yeshiva, next zman. Its not really a time to take new Bochurim now, so now what???
May 18, 2011 9:39 pm at 9:39 pm #768080WolfishMusingsParticipantHe had one Faher and was told he is accepted in that Yeshiva, next zman. Its not really a time to take new Bochurim now, so now what???
I’m confused… if he was accepted in a yeshiva, what is the problem?

May 18, 2011 10:14 pm at 10:14 pm #768081Mother in IsraelMemberWolf, he was accepted for next zman, not this one.
May 18, 2011 10:27 pm at 10:27 pm #768082BUBBLEParticipantThink only boys have this issue girls is just the same and I’m talking about the lower grades and even pre school. Some one was told to enroll her kids in public school and see how fast they’ll get into a school.
May 18, 2011 10:33 pm at 10:33 pm #768083WolfishMusingsParticipantWolf, he was accepted for next zman, not this one.
Ah, thanks for the clarification.
Considering it’s already late-May, I think you have to write this z’man off as lost.
The Wolf
May 18, 2011 10:46 pm at 10:46 pm #768084Pac-ManMemberThat’s painful to contemplate. How can one write off even one day of Yeshiva?

You might be right, but it’s a big problem; a teenager having no schedule for months straight is a dangerous thing – batala m’viah lidei shiamum and zimah.
What I don’t understand is that if this is a normal bochur, just not a m’tzuyan, why can’t he stay where he was before Pesach?
May 18, 2011 10:58 pm at 10:58 pm #768086WolfishMusingsParticipantThat’s painful to contemplate. How can one write off even one day of Yeshiva?
OK, do *you* know of a school that will take him for one month? Because I can’t think of one.
The Wolf
May 19, 2011 1:31 am at 1:31 am #768087EzratHashemMemberThat the boy says he doesn’t want to be in yeshiva is not sof davar. Then the question needs to be answered, why was yeshiva not a place where he felt comfortable?
May 19, 2011 6:33 pm at 6:33 pm #768088a maminParticipantOkay DY: Yeshiva from last zman is not an option. Wolf: It’s not just one month. Chasidish Yeshivas have this zman until after Sukkos. This is getting really out of hand. I hear Askanim are working on it, but nothing is done as of today. So here we see a bachur sitting home since Pesach, not even davening in a shule becsause he’s embarrased if anyone asks him why he isn’t in yeshiva, or” which yeshiva are you learning in?” I was told there are over a hundred bucherim in his place!!
May 19, 2011 6:41 pm at 6:41 pm #768089apushatayidParticipantEzrat. You are correct. The boy as well as his parents met with a number of people (including several neighborhood Rabbonim) and it was determined that this course of action is most suited for this boy. Chanoch LiNaar Al Pi Darko means what is best for him, not what everyone else does.
May 19, 2011 6:42 pm at 6:42 pm #768090apushatayidParticipantWhy wasnt he accepted for this Zman? Is there a finite number seats in the shiur room?
May 19, 2011 6:44 pm at 6:44 pm #768091WolfishMusingsParticipantWolf: It’s not just one month. Chasidish Yeshivas have this zman until after Sukkos. This is getting really out of hand
Really? Chassidic yeshivas go through the summer until Sukkos?
The Wolf
May 19, 2011 6:53 pm at 6:53 pm #768092a maminParticipantYes, the zman is from Rosh Chodesh Iyar until the Yom Tovim.
APY this bucher is only 15.
May 19, 2011 7:05 pm at 7:05 pm #768093WolfishMusingsParticipantYes, the zman is from Rosh Chodesh Iyar until the Yom Tovim.
In that case, I offer my apologies. I did not know that. My intent was not to insult anyone or offer impractical advice.
The Wolf
May 19, 2011 7:15 pm at 7:15 pm #768094a maminParticipantWolf:You haven’t insulted anyone! The situation is pathetic!!
May 19, 2011 7:45 pm at 7:45 pm #768095☕ DaasYochid ☕Participantthe zman is from Rosh Chodesh Iyar until the Yom Tovim
Then I really can’t understand why he was only accepted for next zman, unless they feel that his original yeshiva is an option.
Either way, it is indeed very sad.
May 25, 2020 8:52 am at 8:52 am #1864335n0mesorahParticipantWhere is this bocher today?
May 25, 2020 1:39 pm at 1:39 pm #1864507commonsaychelParticipant@a manim I can relate to that, my son was not accepted into yeshiva because of politics but a shaverer bucher with money was accepted, the other bucher went on the next year to molest half of the younger grade
May 25, 2020 2:08 pm at 2:08 pm #1864536n0mesorahParticipantDear Common,
Were you relieved that he did not get in?May 25, 2020 3:40 pm at 3:40 pm #1864588Ex-CTLawyerParticipantHere we have a bachur sitting home since Pesach……………………………………………………
Am I missing something???
In most of the Jewish world the bachurim were sitting home since Pesach because the Yeshivos have been closed down because of COVID-19.Even colleges that are on Trimester or quarterly system weren’t accepting new students this spring and Summer sessions are on line if being held at all.
My grandchildren have been here since the wee of March 12th and we have no idea when their assorted Yeshivos will restart. Each state will have different rules

Not sure if the slur was intended, but I appreciate the pun. Other than that, I have not been victimized at any point.May 25, 2020 7:27 pm at 7:27 pm #1864702commonsaychelParticipantN0M, no slur intended just a stupid question deserves a stupid response
May 25, 2020 7:52 pm at 7:52 pm #1864714n0mesorahParticipantDear Common,
My point was that Hashem was looking out for your son. I apologize.May 25, 2020 11:12 pm at 11:12 pm #1864734commonsaychelParticipantN0M he got in instead of my son, so it would have been a moot point because both would not get in and he molested young grades not his.
May 26, 2020 6:42 am at 6:42 am #18647535ishParticipantWhat does it mean he wasn’t accepted because of politics? Like you are persona non grata in the community?
May 26, 2020 2:38 pm at 2:38 pm #1864980commonsaychelParticipant@5ish, he was an average boy with slightly above shironos, I am average working man with no skeletons in the closet besides this once never had any issues getting my kids into school so no persona non grata issues, competing with a fancy family with deep pockets, who wins? the molester from the fancy family, and how do I know how he got in? the assistant admin told me he wrote out a 15K check two weeks before the farher
