Kiddush Hashem in the wig store

Recently I was at an entertainment venue where there was a mixed crowd of frum & non-frum/non-Jews. I was sitting on a bench and 2 women (not frum/Jewish) were sitting on the bench next to me. Their friend (#3) sat down on the other side of me and I offered her my seat so she could sit next to her friends. She thanked me and struck up a conversation that led to “can I ask what those strings are for?” So I answered their questions as best as I could/as much as I thought was appropriate, and then two of them went to find their kids.

The third stayed and told me a story about another friend of hers who, suffering the effects of chemo, decided to go to a wig store, where there were frum women shopping. She was having a very difficult time with losing her hair, but said that being around (frum) women who were used to wearing wigs, were clearly comfortable with it, and saw it as a “normal” thing, was quite comforting to her.
