Halichos is a new program from Bnos Chana Seminary. It is an expanded version of their already successful Shana Bet program, (entering it’s 4th year!). Halichos is open to all girls who have completed at least a year of post high school study and who are motivated to spend one year learning a profession that will allow them to work from home or office and prepare them to enter the job market immediately upon graduation. At this point there are two popular career options to choose from: Graphic & Web Design or Cosmetology.
In GRAPHIC & WEB DESIGN you will learn the following: Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Preparation for Print, Graphic Design, Portfolio Preparation, Web Design, HTML & CSS (including Adobe Dreamweaver), and Flash. Upon graduation girls will have: 1) A very well rounded portfolio that will enable you to enter the work force right away. 2) Significant experience working with actual clients. 3) A Certificate of Excellence in the above programs.
In Cosmetology girls will learn makeup for the bride and bridal party, hair styles and up-dos for simchas, cutting and styling hair, cutting, washing and setting shaitels, manicure and pedicure, and facials. Like the Graphics program girls will benefit from hours and hours of hands on experience with actual customers under the expert directions of the professionals on the staff. Upon graduation girls will have: 1) A Professional Portfolio of studio pictures of your best work, allowing them to enter the job market right away. 2) A Certificate of Excellence.
The program also features the full seminary experience including excellent, meaningful and inspiring kodesh classes given by dedicated, experienced and caring teachers and rebbeim, a warm and nuturing environment with frum and mature girls, a beautiful and modern dorm in a secure religious neighborhood, occasional trips, shabbatonim, and Yemei Iyun.
The program is intense because there is alot to accomplish in a limited amount of time. But it is also very warm and supportive. There is alot of staff support for the girls and help is always available when needed.
There are major scholarships available.

May 9, 2011 9:08 am at 9:08 am #828073TryingMyBestMemberNo it is defintitely not a quickie course. There is more than 400+ hours of inclass instruction in both the Graphics and Cosemetology program. That doesn’t include time spent with actual customers, private time with teachers, or homework. So the professional training is intense and top notch. The limudei kodesh is geared towards inspiration and direction. Lots of textual learning but definitely more relaxed atmosphere. The girls really love the learning even though they are so busy with their graphics, etc. They really want the girls to feel like learning and Torah is what keeps them grounded during pressured times, etc. The girls learn alot of practical halacha and alot about preparing for their roles as wives, mothers, etc. It is an excellent program!!!!!

It is a live interactive course that can be taken from your location worldwide. They offer the most advanced, current and comprehensive training. Their student support is top notch!!
Hatzlacha!
