facebook i feel is the plague of our generation. it seems to be a very destructive force, look at the destruction it has done all over the world, from ruining millions of marriages in the the u.s. alone to creating wars between the arab nations. (we still dont know what that will mean for the jews)
whats wrong with plain email? facebook is not for a frum person imo.
you really think facebook started the wars in the arab nations? i think not.
Facebook is how the Arab uprising spread amongst the Arab masses.

Honestly, I don’t see how facebook is that much worse than email. Just facebook is newer does not mean it is “not for a frum person”.
Also, does this thread have anything to do with the new YWN facebook page?

If facebook is the worst thing in our generation life is not so bad!
Our ancestors had to face Pogroms, epidemics that could kill half of a town or more, Expulsions and worse. We have facebook.
Plus I’m not sure its fair to blame facebook if someone has an affair and then posts pictures to facebook getting caught.

Facebook gives kids access to the opposite gender (via live chat and “interesting” photos)24/7….even after a person gets back on track…crazy pic’s of themselves are out there,at large,FOREVER.

we have gone thru this MANY times! Facebook is NOT a plague. there were WORST websites out there that were destroying marriages. i would name you one but its not longer around. on that website married ppl were free to go on and look for other married people to do who knows what! Facebook???? you see who the friends are!!! if someone is having an affair from it then thats crazy! Yes people write stupid things on it and can get themselves into trouble but thats their problem! If you have it, then get rid of it. there are people i speak to in england, israel, and australia. do you think im going to email them back and forth all the time? no. by having facebook i pick and choose who i want to talk to and who’s pictures i want to see. but to sit here and say its a plague? yes people are against it. but the advantages i use it for is not what i call a plague! people who i havent spoken to in a long time were able to wish me a mazel tov after i got married. i am able to see my cousins pics in california and see how her kids are doing. i was able to get advice from people on different things by seeing what they went thru. Facebook is not a plague. as in everything in life…YOU can bring out the good of it!
unaffordable yeshiva tuition and both parents working are responsible for all thats wrong. If you had less stress about money, and parents more free to spend time with kids I guarantee the internet drugs etc.. would not be as problematic as they are today. BTW how many people are now considering charter schools as opposed to yeshiva in jersey and Brooklyn.
oh and i have one more thing to add. why not call cell phones a plague? cell phones are whats keeping parents from their kids. its whats keeping kids from their parents. how about all the texting that goes on btwn opp genders thats supposedly a problem. affairs come from that too! cell phones are just as bad and if anything…WORSE!

You wouldn’t be wrong if you did, for the very reasons you mention.
It is a crazy thing. everything is so open and to public (can be) yes why do most pple. need a face book account unless its for work but for real.
