Spider Veins…Did Chava HAVE to eat from the Aitz Ha’daas???
March 30, 2011 1:18 am at 1:18 am #755003ZeesKiteParticipantDon’t know. But did she HAVE TO share?
March 30, 2011 1:19 am at 1:19 am #755004oomisParticipantNo, she didn’t have to eat from it. It would probably never have happened had her husband not added a CHUMRAH onto Hashem’s mitzvah, instead of teaching her the halacha exactly as it was given.
March 30, 2011 1:19 am at 1:19 am #755005observanteenMemberlol! I’ve been asking my mom this question ever since!
March 30, 2011 1:52 am at 1:52 am #755006eclipseMemberZeesKite,I’ve been doing Adam’s job for the past 20+ years,too!
March 30, 2011 1:55 am at 1:55 am #755007ZeesKiteParticipantoomis1105: That’s funny. SHE blamed the Nachash. You’re blaming her husband!
btw we are bidden by Chazal to make gedarim. ??? ???? ?????.
March 30, 2011 2:56 am at 2:56 am #755008deiyezoogerMember@oomis please look up the pasuk ?????? ?-? also see rashi ?????? ?? ????? so it was Chavah who added the chumrah!! as the Brisker Rav said “churahs nit far kein veiber”.
March 30, 2011 3:23 am at 3:23 am #755009eclipseMemberthe pain in vein falls mainly on the plain…
March 30, 2011 3:26 am at 3:26 am #755010eclipseMemberI sometimes think of that story I learned in high school Literature class about The Necklace…how she aged UNNECESSARILY–anyone know what I mean?
March 30, 2011 4:18 am at 4:18 am #755011ZeesKiteParticipantThis really got me thinking.
March 30, 2011 4:29 am at 4:29 am #755012cofeefanMembervery nice Zeeskite;)

March 30, 2011 6:23 pm at 6:23 pm #755016always hereParticipantwhy did I think this was gonna be a forum on spider & varicose veins?! 😉
March 30, 2011 7:51 pm at 7:51 pm #755017eclipseMemberadorable,I am.
I taught;he learned f/t.

March 30, 2011 8:06 pm at 8:06 pm #755018adorableParticipanteclipse- do you have vericose veins even when not preg? I hear they are hereditary and I have them too but they dont really hurt. Once in a while when they do, I just lay on a bed with my feet up against the wall. Works miracles!
March 31, 2011 2:04 am at 2:04 am #755019eclipseMemberAdorable…it’s from being on my feet most of the time and is not painful if I take breaks–a luxury I can’t always afford on a busy day.
March 31, 2011 2:07 am at 2:07 am #755020eclipseMemberBy the way, spider veins are NOT THE SAME AS VARICOSE VEINS.
March 31, 2011 3:00 am at 3:00 am #755021HealthParticipantThere are cheap compression stockings that work. The frum stores or ladies in their houses only sell the most expensive. But I’ve found in K-mart and online cheaper and they work fine.
March 31, 2011 3:20 am at 3:20 am #755022eclipseMemberCheap? Even light support is expensive.
And where online?
(and how do YOU know?)
March 31, 2011 3:52 am at 3:52 am #755023HealthParticipanteclipse – I’m suprised you’re still talking to me after my post on Que Sera song. Oh, you probably didn’t see it -they deleted it.
Obviously, I bought them for myself. The ones from K’mart were around $5 a pair.
March 31, 2011 6:47 am at 6:47 am #755024Mother in IsraelMemberIf I could have a word with Chava, I would have a lot to tell her right now. Varicose veins, sciatica, shortness of breath, etc.–I’ve got a long list of things to thank her for. And I won’t even talk about how scared I am of childbirth. This will be my 9th ka”h, and I’m still scared stiff when I think about it too much. Thanks, Chava.
March 31, 2011 10:43 am at 10:43 am #755025eclipseMemberWhat am I supposed to say to that?
March 31, 2011 2:29 pm at 2:29 pm #755026adorableParticipanthealth- are you a guy or a girl? this is making me so confused!
March 31, 2011 2:42 pm at 2:42 pm #755027eclipseMemberI was referring to Health’s post.
Mom In Israel…B’sha’ah tovah!
adorable…a guy with sympathy pains??
March 31, 2011 3:00 pm at 3:00 pm #755028Mother in IsraelMemberGuys get varicose veins too. My grandfather wears lovely ladies’ support stockings for his. Me, I just suffer in silence.
March 31, 2011 3:06 pm at 3:06 pm #755029YW Moderator-80Memberspider veins and varicose veins are 2 different things.
varicose veins can cause discomfort and even some significant medical issues
spider veins are usually just a cosmetic problem.
March 31, 2011 3:10 pm at 3:10 pm #755030eclipseMemberThen I guess I have both.Lucky me!
March 31, 2011 3:39 pm at 3:39 pm #755031always hereParticipantI don’t have spider veins, only a beaut of a varicose running from my left knee down my inner calf a bit. had it for many yrs., got worse after childbirths. add on the knee replacement, prominent heel spur, arthritic big toe .. & you wonder why I can’t stand? same issues on my right leg, except no varicose vein, B’H.
veryy draining, heavy feeling in my legs… waahhh 🙁
is this TMI?!
March 31, 2011 4:01 pm at 4:01 pm #755032eclipseMember2 4 6 8! …who don’t we appreciate?
The Nachash,the nachash!
Boooooooo the nachash!
The above song was dedicated to you, always:)
March 31, 2011 4:17 pm at 4:17 pm #755033always hereParticipantthanks, eclipse =]
March 31, 2011 5:38 pm at 5:38 pm #755034ZeesKiteParticipantMother in Israel:
I don’t think it’s right to express oneself in such fashion towards the first woman, directly created by HKB”H, mother of all (Mommy taught me derech eretz). I saw worse. It was some sort of tefilla (by whom?) saying in effect “HaShem, you know me. If I would have been tempted, I would have overcome my urge..” Oh, really?!
April 1, 2011 3:16 am at 3:16 am #755035HealthParticipant“…a guy with sympathy pains??”
I felt bad when my wife was going through childbirth and had pain, but sympathy pains -not me, never. You can’t be a medical professional with sympathy only empathy. Look up the difference.
April 1, 2011 3:21 am at 3:21 am #755036HealthParticipant“My grandfather wears lovely ladies’ support stockings for his”
I actually wore the ones made for men, not ladies. I also don’t have varicose veins. They help to prevent aching legs and feet if you’re on your feet all day.
April 1, 2011 3:46 am at 3:46 am #755037eclipseMemberThe real Jobst-style stockings take 4 years to put on!
I have no patience for that.
Bottom line: What’s reversible? What’s tough luck?(ok,basherte)
April 1, 2011 4:25 am at 4:25 am #755038HealthParticipantTry K-mart brand or FUTURO brand. They are not that difficult to put on.
April 1, 2011 4:31 am at 4:31 am #755039eclipseMemberThank you,Doc.
Good night,all.
April 1, 2011 4:39 am at 4:39 am #755040HealthParticipantI never said I was a Doctor.
April 1, 2011 4:46 am at 4:46 am #755041eclipseMemberMed student/intern?
Anyway,thanks!
April 1, 2011 7:01 am at 7:01 am #755042am yisrael chaiParticipantThe Jobst 15-20 compression stockings are much easier to put on, & can be done w/o using gloves!
There are also some insurance carriers that cover this expense in full.
April 1, 2011 7:56 pm at 7:56 pm #755043deiyezoogerMemberI dont know about sympety pain but some men put up sympety weight…
