stress??
TMJ?
March 28, 2011 8:29 pm at 8:29 pm #753414AinOhdMilvadoParticipantMost probably a TMJ (Temperal-Mandibular-Joint)issue.
It may come from an unbalanced bite, which might be able to be fixed by your dentist by just a little grinding down of the surface of the teeth that are hitting (the opposing teeth) first, i.e. before they hit on the other side of your mouth (making both sides occlude at the same time).
Or…
You may be grinding/clenching your teeth and need to wear a nightguard when you sleep.

March 28, 2011 8:30 pm at 8:30 pm #753416phillybubbyParticipantPossible TMJ–see a dentist if pain persists (especially when chewing).
March 28, 2011 8:31 pm at 8:31 pm #753417YW Moderator-80Membertmj quite unlikely
tmj typically causes ear pain, tooth pain, headaches.
not jaw pain
March 28, 2011 8:36 pm at 8:36 pm #753418s2021MemberI have a “perfect bite” to quote my dentist (unless that changes with time?)
dont grind my teeth
why would stress make a diff?
March 28, 2011 8:45 pm at 8:45 pm #753419i am hereMemberstress effects anything and everything. just talking from experience
March 28, 2011 8:47 pm at 8:47 pm #753420kgh5771ParticipantAre you able to move your jaw, or are you just in pain? Did you cut/puncture yourself recently? And if so, are you up to date on your tetanus shots? Google tetanus/lockjaw and see if the symptoms match your own, and if so, SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION NOW.
March 28, 2011 8:59 pm at 8:59 pm #753421YW Moderator-80Memberlet me clarify my previous post
by jaw pain i assumed for some reason you meant the lower jaw, the chin and behind
if you meant the upper jaw, near the ear and below, then yes tmj is a likely cause
March 28, 2011 9:05 pm at 9:05 pm #753422AinOhdMilvadoParticipantYou say you don’t grind your teeth but you may clench or grind your teeth while you are sleeping and not be aware of it.
This would stress the jaw muscles and could be the cause of your problem.
I would guess you may need a nightguard.

March 28, 2011 9:17 pm at 9:17 pm #753424adorableParticipantwhy would teeth that are all filled already and no cavities hurt? That is a better question!

March 28, 2011 9:26 pm at 9:26 pm #753427s2021MemberHow would I know if I grind my teeth in my sleep??
March 28, 2011 9:31 pm at 9:31 pm #753428msseekerMemberIt’s only from stress and can be controlled with the mind. Read Dr. Sarno’s books. It got me rid of my SEVERE TMJ for $0.
March 28, 2011 9:32 pm at 9:32 pm #753429Mother in IsraelMemberFor me that would be a sinus issue. Do you have a cold/congestion?
March 28, 2011 9:38 pm at 9:38 pm #753430s2021MemberI never got my wisdom teeth..

March 28, 2011 9:43 pm at 9:43 pm #753431simchasParticipantCould be cardiac related… watch for any other signs and symptoms remembering that not everyone presents typically.

March 28, 2011 9:55 pm at 9:55 pm #753433not tellingMemberI have the same problem lately. I can’t open my mouth wide at all (actually quite small) and it hurts to chew on things weather hard or soft. Also, sometimes my ears hurt and the upper part of my jaw always hurts. At night, when laying down and putting pressure on the jaws it hurts too. What should I do? (Someone told me that going to a dentist won’t help, since he’s not a TMJ doctor)
March 28, 2011 10:03 pm at 10:03 pm #753434msseekerMembermsseeker- But I dont think Im stressed..
That’s exactly it. Your mind can’t or won’t deal with your stress, so it’s fardreying you a kop with your TMJ. Read it, it’s worthwhile, for any chronic pain, even CFS.
March 28, 2011 10:07 pm at 10:07 pm #753435Sister BearMemberDo you chew gum a lot? That’s could also cause TMJ.
March 28, 2011 10:11 pm at 10:11 pm #753436yiddishemishpachaMemberum there is a profession called “doctor” it’s actually been around for a long time. It’s true it is not always a full proof method, but seeking a doctor’s advice might be good in this case. I know it’s a crazy idea and asking about a hundred people whom you don’t know is of course the wiser thing to do ( i do it myself sometimes because I am afraid of doctors)… but still maybe consider it.:)
On a lighter note (or rather a deeper note), Tehilim also works. Ask Hashem to take it away from you, do teshuva for whatever you think that you do is causing this (it is min Hashamaim after all…) the pain should be a kapparah for everything that you ever did, or your family ever did, and the pain should go away immediately and you should live to a 120 in perfect health! (don’t forget to say Amen)
p.s. i couldn’t resist on commenting on your post because it reminded me of myself (though I have never actually gone to extreme to post it in CR…I might have if I had thought of it) anything to avoid visiting a doctor.:) they do actually learn something in their years of medical school and residency, etc. (I hope)
March 28, 2011 10:28 pm at 10:28 pm #753437s2021Memberyiddi- O u didnt know? the coffeeroom is just swarming with doctors..
March 28, 2011 10:56 pm at 10:56 pm #753438msseekerMembernot telling, it was the same by me. I got rid of it in 2 DAYS just by thinking the right thoughts (“Mind, get off my TMJ”) and IGNORING it (opening my mouth, chewing, talking as much as I wanted). PLEASE give it a try. I hate to see people suffer when they could be helped so easily for FREE.
March 28, 2011 11:09 pm at 11:09 pm #753439smileyface136Membercould be from a sinus infection too. If it is from TMJ, stop chewing gum.

You can. My advice -go to a dentist. These type of pains are usually tooth related, eg. cavity. It could also be TMJ problems. Your dentist can detect this also. If you wait too long -a cavity can turn into a major problem and you could end up losing the tooth or having a root canal. Get an appt. ASAP!
