Today – one of the relatives expressed their appreciation to him and he said you will get used to my face. I have committed myself that every week I will deliver food and stock your home until the youngest orphan turns 18 years old.See More

That’s a beautiful and heartwarming story, Mike. Thanks for sharing.

You reminded me of another story, not too related. There was a grocer in Williamsburg, Mr. Medelowitz. When his brother passed on, after the levaye, as the aron was being walked through the streets, Mr. M walked into a competing grocery.

Of course, an onlooker was shocked, later went into the grocery to find out what this is all about. It looked so heartless..

Turns out he went into his competing grocery to ask him to provide bread, milk etc for a poor family- who needs it for surrvival, on Mr. M’s bill, since he’ll be unable to provide through shiva.

It is amazing to hear/read such uplifting stories.

It reminds me of a story where I live, a father succumbed to yeneh machle three years after his wife.

A person went to the kosher shops and instructed the store owners to deliver food/paperware etc to the house on his cheshbon.

This is more than a shiva visit. It showed these poor yesoimim that there are people really thinking of them on a daily basis and putting their money where their mouth is.

    MI K’AMCHA YISROEL!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so proud to be a Jew.

Habeit mi’shamayim ur’ay these selfless deeds should speed up the bringing of mashiach.

    Mi Keamcho…..indeed!

There was story of a very wealthy man who lived very modestly to the point where pple accused him of being a hapless miser. Word got around that he never gave any tzedakah etc…..

When he was niftar, they found in his safe tons of invoices with his signature for all sorts of charities. He wanted to give quietly as not to get any recognition.

    TBT,

Your story got me all teary eyed. How an individual in such circumstnaces, had others on his mind. Amazing!

One slight nitpick – there are two shiva houses. One is in Yerushalayim (Ruth Fogel’s family) and the other is in Neve Tzuf (Rav Udi’s family). There is no shiva in Itamar.

I went to the shiva house in Neve Tzuf yesterday (Monday). If anyone has a chance, they should go. Rav Udi’s father told us how much chizuk the family gets when people they don’t know come by to be menachem avel. I saw him comforting a friend of his son and daughter-in-law who came to the shiva house in tears. They are truly remarkable people.
