    Really cute video!

    Their Chanukah video that went viral probably was mekarev lots of people. Now that they have a real fan club, the Purim one will prob be similarly successful.

    I was waiting for this to show up.

    The whole point of the maccabeats is not a band in the manner that they have their own music and everything but rather to make songs into accapella and give it a twist

    GM, OP – who was it Mekarev??

    I dont have facts and figures, but I think it made people aware of religious Jews, who might not have been before. Even if a tiny percentage of them thought about or looked into their roots because of that, that’s Kiruv of some sort.

    to cshapiro: buy their cd it does have a few original songs and the songs they copy are nice as well. To geshmak man all I can say is hey you never know in terms of what effect the song might have in terms of kiruv

    regardless of what people say, Jews who otherwise would have never performed the Mitzvah of lighting a Menorah did…not many can say that had such an impact on yidishkyte…

    I don’t like the music, but no one can deny that it brought a lot of people closer to Judaism, whether “just” lighting a menorah or something more permanent.

    Just a halakhic caveat: The original song being parodied is kol isha so men should not go looking for it on youtube unless they use the minority heter for recorded music.
