Living in Israel and plan on moving back Pesach time. I am not from the tri state area but am hoping to settle down there. Its a toss up between a few communities although we probably know what we are going to do…we still want to hear what people think.

What are the pros and cons of Flatbush vs. Passaic vs. Lakewood (Monsey is a no because of family reasons)

Obviously a lot has to do with where your job is etc. But as of now we are B’H flexible so we can first settle down and then work out our financial situation. (I know some of the places are worse commuting wise…)

Flatbush can be considered “the city”. It does not have a suburb feel like Passaic or Lakewood. It is very crowded and congested. Lakewood definitely has the Yeshiva feeling because most of the community is part of the yeshiva and the Yeshiva has a tremendous influence over the community whether you are a working family or a kollel family. Passaic is a young frum community. It also has a suburban feel, not overcrowded and not the type of community were everyone is in your business.

Lakewood is more yeshivish and learning style. Flatbush is a bit more modern (although you can still be yeshivish there).

Hatzlacha in wherever you end up living!!

Kensington is a bit more yeshivish than Flatbush. Marine Park is a bit more modern than Flatbush.

if you have kids, there are a lot of schools to choose from in Flatbush.
