It’s funny. I tell myself all the time just to believe in Hashem and everything will work out. Things always do end up working out, I’ve seen it first hand. If I’ve seen it first hand, why do I have such a hard time with emunah?
I’m having a particularly hard time with this in regards to shidduchim. I’m a nervous wreck. I tell myself all the time that Hashem will help me, He will guide me in the right direction etc.
Is this enough or should I be doing more? Is saying things like that really considered believing?

February 7, 2011 1:21 am at 1:21 am #737276doodle jumpParticipantIn life, a person has to do his hishtadlus, but the truth is that we are not running the world. HaShem runs the world and he is in control of EVERYTHING. We are not in control of anything that happens to us. Everything is bashert. The reason that you did not find your zivug yet is because the time is not ripe yet, whatever that means. Sometime we are zoche to see in our lifetime why things happened, but most of the time we are not. Trust me, everything is B’yad HaShem but we must do our best and try our best in every situation. I have seen Yad HaShem so many times. He is always there for us. In regards to shiduchim, trust me. It’s nothing personal. There are so many girls out there in the same situation. IY”H you should find your bashert very soon. Garden of Emunah is an awesome book. Hatzlacha and simcha always.

February 7, 2011 1:28 am at 1:28 am #737279HaLeiViParticipantIt sounds like you are asking if you should be doing more in regards to Emuna. Well, you can Daven to Hashem that He should give you Emuna. You instill it in yourself more and more each time you act upon your Emuna.

February 7, 2011 1:46 am at 1:46 am #737281cshapiroMemberCheck out http://www.lazerbrody.typepad.com/ i strongly advise you to check it out and listen to some shuirim while ur doing work and stuff….
You can always email Rabbi Brody any questions or concerns you have about emunah, I emailed them once and they answered me like within 24 hours. its a long story but i asked if it was a lack of emunah to be nervous in a certain situation to which the answer was no, we are all human….on that note we are human and hashem knows that…obviously but at the same time we must believe everything comes from hashem, for our best and for a specific purpose.
we have a nightly conference call in which we learn garden of emunah and discuss it (we being a bunch of girls ranging from high school +) and bh its been going really well. if u would like the number i can ask the mods to post it.

February 7, 2011 2:03 am at 2:03 am #737285kapustaParticipantMaybe this is just me, but I think to myself that Hashem has never given up on me yet, and I have no real reason to think that way. It helps to keep the nerves in check.
Hatzlacha!
February 7, 2011 2:05 am at 2:05 am #737286happiestMemberThanks kapusta and cshapiro.
Hashem is here for us. He is going to help us!!! I just have to keep reminding myself that!!!
February 7, 2011 2:07 am at 2:07 am #737287tzippiMembercshapiro, you and your friends are very impressive. I would say that for this book, it’s really good to have a mentor, especially if Breslov isn’t your derech. If you can get such instant feedback that’s great.
February 7, 2011 2:15 am at 2:15 am #737288happiestMembertzippi- I think I agree with you. I’m not sure it’s the right book for someone to read on their own. This is what I’ve heard but I haven’t read it myself. I’ve been told not to read it on my own…
February 7, 2011 2:15 am at 2:15 am #737289cshapiroMemberthe breslov israel crew is always there for u…i am not breslov at all….but emunah is for every jew :))
but if u dont want to read garden of emunah, listen to just one or two shuirim of rabbi brody, on the right hand side of his website, its 100000% worth it i promise!!!
