February 6, 2011 6:28 am at 6:28 am #969975always hereParticipantI listed the ones I know on a different thread, in B’kyln, w/ phone #s …
sorry, I don’t know how to retrieve it… maybe someone can help w/ that?
February 6, 2011 4:42 pm at 4:42 pm #969976aries2756ParticipantIt was Gips, and I think she is doing it in a store front now, not in her basement. Google Brookly Gemachs.

February 6, 2011 5:52 pm at 5:52 pm #969978always hereParticipantok, so no one’s gonna help me retrieve that other thread? :/
I’m still sticking w/ Simchas Chynka– E. 17th, off of Ave. J
February 6, 2011 6:25 pm at 6:25 pm #969979Fast ForwardMemberI couldn’t find it either, Always, but I was the one who started that thread. Here is what I found: Simchas Chynka 718-377-3874 (call for hours, they change), Kanarek Tuesday evening only, no appt. 718-338-1096, Mrs Berkowitz (BP) 718-854-2066, Mrs. Deutsch (Willie) 384-7535. Keep in mind that if you get a dress from a Gemach, they only let you do any alterations by hand and it has to be returned in the exact way you rented it. So major alterations are out. If you cannot find anything at the Gemachs, try renting at Augenbraun on Coney Island Avenue. I believe the prices start at $300 (plus alterations and tax.) Hatzlacha
February 6, 2011 6:29 pm at 6:29 pm #969980always hereParticipantSimchas Chynka I think is generally $75, (they’ll usually make deductions if you havta alter,)& you havta drop it off afterwards to their dry cleaners..
February 6, 2011 6:36 pm at 6:36 pm #969981chayav inish livisumayParticipantthey have a chosson and kalla directory with all the important things u need to know and with locations and prices. u can pik one up in many of the stores in bkln
February 6, 2011 6:46 pm at 6:46 pm #969982Fast ForwardMemberAlways, I was just by Chynka and yes it is $75 and you have to drop it off at their cleaners (another $25 to $35), but we were told that you can only do alterations by hand and that has to be taken out before returning. So if you need to hem something that has beading, that cannot be done by hand or if something is too large and has to be taken in, I would not want to chance it with hand sewn stitches. JMHO.
February 6, 2011 6:48 pm at 6:48 pm #969983always hereParticipantwe took our dresses to a dressmaker for alterations…
btw– I was shocked when we tried another ‘gemach’ & it was $200-250… with a very small selection yet!
August 9, 2013 8:03 am at 8:03 am #969984ewilnerMemberYou can find all gemach listings even from your mobile phone
at http://www.simchagemach.com plus I saw devorah Heller’s challah baking workshop on that site and some other awesome videos.
