“Soooo, you’re learning a sefer on Anger, huh? Ha! Now that’s a good one.I was in your home today, and you raised your voice..more than once!Shall I remind you of all the stupid things you did today?First of all, you……And then you didn’t……!
You’d think that was enough sliding for one day,but noooo, you even messed up a third time! We should nickname you “hypocrite” for having tha gall to keep learning this sefer with your friends, when at least once or twice a week, you get too upset!”
Hey,Soton!
SINCE I KNOW THIS IS YOUR VOICE,MEANT TO DISCOURAGE ME,I AM GOING TO HAVE TO ASK YOU TO LEAVE…NOW!
So just “hop on the bus,Gus,ya don’ needa discuss much!”

January 28, 2011 3:17 am at 3:17 am #733045GuardmytongueMemberI watched my bachur put on his worn out shoes and I felt him staring at me from the other side of the room.
And when I drove to school past the new house my friend is having built I almost ran smack into him!
The soton lurks, sneaks and waits patiently for opportunities to strike. He sees me wishing for better things, for more things, for things that other people have.
And then I saw him slink away. But not too far away. He left me for the time being, but I saw him settle in close by. Watching. And waiting.

January 28, 2011 3:35 am at 3:35 am #733047bbubbeeParticipantCan’t you see that you are winning the battle over the Satan, If you can identify that the satan is getting in the way then you are two steps ahead of him. keep up the good work! 🙂
January 28, 2011 4:01 am at 4:01 am #733048HealthParticipantHey that song kept playing over and over again on the radio when I was in High School.
Seriously though, sometimes when trying to change a character trait or a Midah, it might not be enough to say I learn about it in a sefer. Sometimes it’s good to get professional help, either a Rov or a Rebbitzen or a therapist. They sometimes can get your engine going, if it’s stalled!
January 28, 2011 12:16 pm at 12:16 pm #733049Derech HaMelechMemberI once heard, I don’t even remember where anymore that the story about the shepherd that became a nazir in Nedarim 9b shows that the man was makir that his tayvos are not because he himself is pogum somehow and that he should get depressed over himself. Rather he understands right away that his tayvos are all from the yetzer habo’er bikirbeinu tamid, lo yishkot v’lo yanuach.
This is a very important part of aliyos, that a person should never get depressed over his tayvos or if he fails to adequately curb them. Rather he should pick himself up wherever he is and send himself to the ‘Beis HaMikdash’ and for this even Shimon HaTazadik will get up and kiss him.

Anyway, there was a message there…sorry, I was just trying to be Tongue-in-cheek, due the “nature” of the post…after reading my post again I can see it was rude and not as funny as I thought when I was writing it down late last night….
January 28, 2011 4:40 pm at 4:40 pm #733059HealthParticipanteclipse -I understand, but I hardly spend time with my kids in my house. It has to be elsewhere. You can consider yourself lucky. Maybe this point I just made will help you stay calm. It’s only nice to have peace and quiet some of the time, not all of the time.
