I would like to suggest to YWN to begin a new section: “news summary.” There are many current events, both that have to do with the Jewish community and the international community (the controversy in Emmanuel, the IDF conversion controversy, the Obama health care plan, the recent uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia, etc…) that I read about in bits and pieces but I don’t always have a full picture of what’s going on. Even when YWN links to previous stories, many times its a fractured account with some information missing in the early stories and it’s assumed everyone knows it by the later stories. I would like to suggest, that when these big issues, current events, controversies, etc… occur, an editor or writer on YWN should summarize from the beginning to the end (and being updated as information comes out) with an impartial, unbiased explanation of both (or more) sides of the issues, what exactly is the controversy, and anything else that can add to clarity on the issue. Thank you for considering my idea!

One of the rules here is before beginning a thread, make sure there isnt already one on the same topic! This is being blatantly ignored. Surely you Mods should lead by example and not allow thru a new thread if there are already several on that topic ON THE HOME PAGE! It gets boring and haphazard!
Look at the home page now. There’s 3 threads on the British Royal Wedding. Now that’s no fairy tale. There’s also 2 threads on shlissel challas. That responsibility surely lies with the key editor.
You guys used to allow the OP then direct him to the earlier thread and close the new thread. Why has this changed?

They might not know there was a thread like that already (more than one mod here you know) and they also might not have time to check to make sure its not a double. who cares if someone wants to post the same thing twice? why do you care?

My point is simply that there were several threads ON THE MAIN HOME PAGE AT THE SAME TIME on the same of a variety of topics. There were 4 on the royal wedding, 2 on key challos, then 2 on subtitles, often several on shidduchim etc. Its not that one occasionally slips thru. So I just asked the mods to do what they expect us to do if you read the rules, which is have a quick check even just of the home page.
Sometimes after posting on a thread you wish you had replied to the other thread cos it is more interesting. Dont you think to have ten threads on three topics simultaneously is rediculous? Lets amalgamate and group things together. Thats all.
