What is the worst chore you have in your house that you have to do?
Mine would be dishes and bathrooms.
You?

January 20, 2011 12:25 am at 12:25 am #731706smartcookieMemberYogi- I buy wrinkle free too. But it doesn’t mean anything. For some reason I think they meant to say that the wrinkles you buy for free….;)

Can someone please invent self- folding laundry?!
January 20, 2011 1:21 am at 1:21 am #731710stickynoteMemberThe worst chore in my house is unpacking the frozen groceries into the stuffed freezer. its like a quick slam dunk situation:) (“Vi hameivin yaven especially bezalel)
January 20, 2011 1:36 am at 1:36 am #731711BEST IMAParticipantDefrosting an ice freezer is on my list of ‘chores to aviod doing for as long as possible’ right after cleaning ovens!
January 20, 2011 1:37 am at 1:37 am #731712mewhoParticipantyogi, you really should do the dishes in the kitchen , it would be easier on your back.
the bathtub is way too low down
January 20, 2011 1:59 am at 1:59 am #731713beyondpearlsParticipantFor me it’s tackling the smelly, gooey pile in my sink after Shabbos. I’ve started a collection of “happy aprons”, yellow with pink ruffles, blue chintz waterproof, quilted provencal print… They look a bit uncerimonious, but very effective in keeping my mood up.
January 20, 2011 2:08 am at 2:08 am #731714yogiboobooMemberstickynote-me2!
January 20, 2011 2:22 am at 2:22 am #731715HealthParticipantGood thing none of you work in the medical field. I’m not even going to talk about that. When I was in Yeshiva, almost everyone had chores. My two worst was cleaning giant pots that I couldn’t even get my hands into after they were used on Shabbos. I couldn’t even begin to get off all that stuff that was baked on.
The second was collecting all the plates (they weren’t throw aways) after a few hours after supper. The whole dining room smelled from the food left on the plates already. I had to dump the leftovers on all the plates in the trash and put the dishes in a large bucket/basket.
January 20, 2011 8:13 am at 8:13 am #731716amichaiParticipantfolding/putting away laundry.
filing bills and bank statements.
January 20, 2011 9:17 am at 9:17 am #731717kapustaParticipantKitchen cleanup. But I guess that would fall into the dishwashing category.
Re leftovers, just because its not a fresh cooked meal, no one else needs to know that. For most chicken and meat, you can add some veggies/rice/potatoes/sauce (tomato sauce from a jar is good but probably most sauces would work) and turn it into a completely “new” dish.
January 20, 2011 11:12 am at 11:12 am #731718twiggyMemberit might seem strsnge- but i enjoy folding clothing. it gives a certain pleasure, time for thought, same goes for dishes. (as long as its my dishes and not some yeshiva cholent pot!!) lol
January 20, 2011 12:57 pm at 12:57 pm #731719wanderingchanaParticipantLOL smartcookie: wrinkles you buy for free
January 20, 2011 1:26 pm at 1:26 pm #731720watermelonMemberAtara Malach says your pots will never be cleaner than the way you’ll scrub them when you are upset about something! A healthy way to channel your adrenalin!(not exact quote)
January 20, 2011 1:38 pm at 1:38 pm #731721Mother in IsraelMember1. Dishes.
2. Putting away laundry. I don’t mind folding it, but distributing it to the various closets is what I despise.
3. Windows.
4. Ironing. I have an iron just for show.
January 20, 2011 1:49 pm at 1:49 pm #731722Hocker101MemberThey have a thing that you put the clothing on top of it and close it up and it folds the laundry. For me, taking all the cold stuff (shirts, pants, stuff that don’t go into dryer) and hanging it all up is the worst chore!

January 21, 2011 5:08 pm at 5:08 pm #731724AinOhdMilvadoParticipantBack in my kibbutz days (a looooong time ago) I used to get the glorious job, every few weeks, of cleaning the chulent pot on Motzai Shabbat.
Now you have to understand that this was a chulent pot unlike yours or mine. It held enough chulent for about 500 people.
It was truly big enough to climb into. It was mounted on a stand with a wheel on the side (like in a submarine) that you would turn to tip it.
I would have to use a big paint scraper to scrape off the burned-on chulent. As great as chulent smells when it’s fresh, that’s how bad it smells when it’s burned on to the walls of the pot on motzai Shabbat.
I miss Israel. I miss the kibbutz. I do NOT miss that job!
January 21, 2011 7:20 pm at 7:20 pm #731725yogiboobooMemberCan I make a suggestion for you people who hate cleaning the cholent pot? No, not bags! simply put some oil on the bottom and spray pam on the sides…its helps TREMENDOUSLY!!!!
January 23, 2011 2:45 am at 2:45 am #731726chayav inish livisumayParticipantunpacking groceries is the worst chore by far. My parents go suparmarket shopping once a week and when they come home there is 300 dollars worth of groceries to unpack

January 23, 2011 4:46 am at 4:46 am #731728mchemtobMember@watermelon I heard that at one of her lectures and everytime I’m annoyed I start cleaning and think of her. Better to take out my aggrivation on my walls then on pple. but I still hate doing laundry. everything about it. The up and down to the machines, the folding, the ironing….but it’s gotta get done.

January 23, 2011 1:15 pm at 1:15 pm #731731twistedParticipantFor me, ( a guy) I get a certain sipuk nefesh while sweeping the floor, and I don’t like to be disturbed while sweeping.

January 24, 2011 9:14 pm at 9:14 pm #731734yossi z.MemberI don’t mind doing laundry, dishes, or putting away groceries (or vacuuming, sweeping, etc) but it seems like an odd occupation for a guy (similar to babysitting which for some reason is a “girls job”) (unless it is for someone I know then I don’t feel odd doing it-hey for all you here who don’t like these chores why don’t I come and do them for you? I’ll give you a special CR discount 😀 )
January 24, 2011 9:56 pm at 9:56 pm #731735yogiboobooMemberyossi-i get my husband to do a lot of it and hes happy to!
January 24, 2011 10:18 pm at 10:18 pm #731736Boro Park GirlMemberfolding laundry is by far the worst – then comes ironing but we usually send e/th to the cleaners b”h.
taking out the garbage also ranks pretty high-bad on my list
January 25, 2011 12:26 am at 12:26 am #731737yossi z.MemberYogibooboo: so then how is it a chore you hate? You don’t do it 😀 😛
