What constitutes a healthy eating lifestyle?

Must meals be focused on vegetables? Must meats be minimal? Where does dairy fit in?

Must all junk food be avoided? In moderation? What is moderation?

How does one change from currently a terribly unhealthy eating habits to a healthy lifestyle?

    i like BP Totty’s model:

fill up a plate as follows: 50% veggies, 25% carb, 25% protein.

    drink lots of water.

    exercise.

Replacing white, bleached flour with whole grains is a high impact healthy change. Replacing sugary soda with water is another (a 20oz coke has almost 16 tsp of sugar in it!). Snacking on fruit or vegetables (apples, pomegranate, blueberries, carrot sticks, etc.) and almonds instead of chips and cookies is another.

Some big healthy changes to get started without significant alteration to your meals!

Actually, the gov. has a thing called the food pyramid -it’s online and it has recently been updated. It tells you all about food categories and how much daily. For an actual diet, either go to a nutritionalist or join a diet online.

Health,…..”the food pyramid……it has recently been updated.”

That’s right! and they will continue of being updated way to a big change (high Saturated Fat).

Know that “Technology” gets upgraded Fast, “Medical” (governmental info.OR confirmation) gets upgraded very slow.

The first, and the most -sense step is, Eliminating TRANS FAT (any word -hydrogenated) and HIGH FRUCTOSE at first.

A beneficial, healthy lifestyle is avoiding sugar, white flour, potatoes and oil. I know numerous people who have lost a lot of weight as a result. Sugar causes headaches, fatigue and illnesses. Whole grains contain fiber, which keeps you satiated, and contains many nutrients. Drink lots of water-it hepls digestion and keeps you full, causing you to eat less. A nice portion of daily self control is imperative!

Sam -You have to worship Hashem, not Dr. Atkins. How many times have you repeated the same thing in many different posts? The gov. (based on the latest science) doesn’t agree and they hold High fat is unhealthy for Human Beings!

Health, I will leave it between me and the Hungry for -Nutrition info (and not for enjoynment)-Reader.

Aditionaly, an assertive person will realize I guess, that a Diet low in Carbohydrate is causing Hunger. It’s that simple.
