I just saw a poster put out by the Queens Hatzolah ( A wonderful orginization) it gave their stats from the recent snowstorm and at the bottom it says when u see a Hatzoloh member say thank you,
Can it really be Hakaras Hatov if u ask it of someone?
They absolutly should be thanked and praised but should they request that we do so, shouldn’t the Mitzvah of Hakaros Hatov be Lshem Shamayim and come from the heart rather from being told to do so?
saying thank you in general seems to be coming more and more scarce.
perhaps this is an eye opener that we should all heed and become a little more aware of giving thanks to all and of course especially Hakadosh Boruch Hu
let me just state that i am a big believer in gratitude and these wonderful people are very deserving of our thanks, but i was just a little non plussed by them asking us to thank them.
Has it gotten so bad that we haven’t thanked them? it should be an automatic!
